Yandle signed in Florida so there goes your theory that it's unlikely he signs there.

The rumor is St. Louis wants Bruins natural 1st round pick + Spooner or Vatrano as the package for Shattenkirk. So, I don't think this gets it done.

St. Louis and Florida pass on those deals. Not enough. Krug is going to be $5 mill + too.

Just dont see where Sweeney is going with things. He has completely missed the boat with Eriksson. Should have took whatever the highest bid was for him at the deadline. It would make it a lot easier to deal for a Shattenkirk, or equivalent, if they had an extra 2nd rounder lying around. Instead they pissed away draft picks on two rentals. The team is loaded with older guys with fat contracts and no movement clauses. I don't see minor tweaks making them a cup contender.

Don't see St. Louis, Edmonton, or NJ accepting those trades. Maybe the Florida one.

2017-2018 committed salary would be $53 mill., and the cap is $71 mill. That's a difference in $18 mill on my calculator.

BreKel again with his "I know all, everyone else sucks" attitude.
With this roster they would have $18 mill in space for next year. And hopefully the cap goes up a few mill, which would give them $20-$22 mill. I think that would be enough to resign their guys.

Unlikely 2016-2017 version
Options for defense were pretty limited given the Stamkos contract and Datsyuk being on the books for this year. You could supplant any other dman you want in there for that price. As I mentioned above - this is an unrealistic outlook....was just playing around with numbers to sign Stamkos and get out from under the Krejci contract, which I think is a bad contract and aside from the Winnipegs and Edmontons of the world, you wouldn't have any takers on it. And Krejci isn't waiving his no movement clause to go to a Winnipeg or Edmonton, but Detroit may be a spot he would agree to.

They might not end up in Arbitration, but the fact that he has a right to Arbitration significantly impacts the negotiations.
I'd love to see Siedenburg return to form and hopefully he does. Watching him at the WC is a good point. Never thought about that.

Sounds like you need a little lecture on the business side since you didn't understand that Krug has leverage as a RFA w/ arbitration rights. But stay at it. You know everything.

Just trying to be realistic. I think you're completely delusional to what the market is for these players. Stempniak put up a 50 point season - a team is going to pay a couple mill. for that production. I know you want the market to be less for these guys because you're a B's fan. But what you want the market to be, and what it actually is are two different things.
You're wrong on Krug's leverage. Just because he is an RFA does not mean he doesn't have any leverage. He's an RFA with arbitration rights which is huge, as he can take the team to arbitration if they can't come to an agreement. And the arbitrator basically basis his decision based off points and compares them to guys of similar age and when they signed. So if Vatanen is a 30 point guy getting $4.85, and Krug is a 40+ point guy....well, I think that's going to drive it up over $5 mill per year. In a similar situation 5 years ago, Yandle signed for 5 years $25 mill., and that was 5 years ago. So, the Bruins options are too pay Krug what an arbitrator would award him, or trade him. Given that the Bruins need d-man, especially skilled d-man, I think they'll be forced to sign him at what arbitration would award him.

Stamkos at his worst, is stilll not comparable to Krecji piling up 60 points on 10 goals, and 50 2nd assists.

You just compared David Krejci to Steven Stamkos, so I think it's safe to say that you're overvaluing him. Krejci isn't some playoff hero, and he's definitely over paid. He lead the team in playoff scoring - FIVE YEARS AGO!! Move on.

That was 5 five years ago when he was 25 years old.
Krejci and Stamkos are not comparable at all. Stamkos is capable of scoring 50 goals, at worst, he'll score you 35. If I was a team looking for a C this off season and willing to pay $7.25 mill in salary, I'd sign Backes for $6 mill and use the $1.25 mill elsewhere. And as an added plus, they wouldn't have to give up anything.
I think you're overvaluing Krejci cause of the sweater he wears.

2016-2017 Trade Marchand
Green and Wideman are not comparable. Green is far better than Wideman. Wideman can barely skate.
What the Bruins did, or didn't do, last year should not serve as motivation as to what they do this off-season. Like I've said three times already - if you can get a better return for Marchand, then they should at least entertain it. A trade for Marchand should not be off the table. I think teams would give up something significant for him. Detroit came to mind as they may lose Datsyuk for nothing to the KHL. If that happens, I would imagine they would be looking for an offensive guy and the Bruins are looking for puck movers. And in this trade Detroit would save $1.5 mill on the cap for next year which would be desirable to them as they have Datsyuk's $7.5 mill sitting there doing nothing for them. Perhaps adding an extra piece in the mix would equal out the value. Just an idea.

BruinsGuy - I disagree. There's a lot working against Krejci in the trade market. 1. He has to approve of any trade due to his NTC, which wipes out a handful of teams (Edmonton, Winnipeg, and any other city him and his wife don't want to live in). 2. He is the highest paid 60 point guy in the league. 3. Many teams that he would approve a trade to (big market teams), can snap up a 60 point UFA for less than $7.25 mill per year for the next 5 years. 4. Nagging injuries....he seems to get these every year. 5. He's 30 years old w/ 5 years to go on his deal.

Rask has a no trade clause. He would have to approve any trade for him - and there is zero chance he would approve a trade to go live in Winnipeg.

Moog - you're kind of contradicting yourself. You are saying that the age of paying a goalie $7 mill is over - so why would another team want to take on Rask? I don't think Rask or Krejci hold that much value in a trade due to their contracts. I think the Bruins are stuck with them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AlexM</b></div><div><i>Depending who you listen to Minnesota was either willing or unwilling to trade Jonas Brodin in a one-for-one for Ryan Johansen... so I find it hard to believe that he'd be moved for a couple of decent middle six players and a 1st.</i></div></div>
The Brodin for Johansen offer included another forward from the Wild. And predictably, CBJ turned it down. No way they would pull the trigger on two pieces for one stud like Johansen. So it's no surprise he went to Nashville in exchange for Jones, who obviously is one of the best young dmen in the league.
Suburban - Vesey is only entitled to 2 year entry level contract and $950k per year is the max he can receive.

2016-2017 Trade Marchand
As I said in my post....if you can find a better dman in a deal for Marchand - then do it.
Green rolls out of bed and gets 40 points a year. Not many guys of his skill set. But if you can get a better deal - then absolutely do it. I don't think Marchand should be untouchable this year though. Taking a risk with a younger guy at LW may pay off. The overall results can't get any worse for the B's.
