Description
Time to cash in Rask and Krejci for top 4 Dmen. No sense paying a goalie 7m on a boarderline playoff team. Same for Krejci, he does not have the caliber wings he needs and Bergy is now top center. Gibson/Johnson can hold down fort till Subban et al are ready. Resign Eriksson as top RW on market and Nielsen as depth at center. Keep Vatrano-Spooner-Pasta together as a young offensive line and vets Beleskey-Nielsen-Stafford for experience. Cheap 4th line options Kelly/Stewert add versatlity and protect Acciari. That will leave 12m next year to give Marchy/Pasta/Spoons raises.

One reason the Ducks are looking to trade their goalie Anderson is because Gibson and Anderson is a getting to be expensive as goalie combo....So I doubt if they would want Rask as a single 7m goalie.

Noted with thanks palhal. The philosophy would be to find a playoff team in need of battle tested goalie. Hopefully getting a top 4 puck moving D man in return. The age of paying 7-8m for a goalie might be over after watching the kids in the playoffs.

Moog - you're kind of contradicting yourself. You are saying that the age of paying a goalie $7 mill is over - so why would another team want to take on Rask? I don't think Rask or Krejci hold that much value in a trade due to their contracts. I think the Bruins are stuck with them.

I disagree about Krejci, he's got tons of value. He was leading the NHL in scoring 20 or so games into the season then had some nagging injuries which slowed him down. He had to have surgery after the season ended and still put up solid #'s.

BruinsGuy - I disagree. There's a lot working against Krejci in the trade market. 1. He has to approve of any trade due to his NTC, which wipes out a handful of teams (Edmonton, Winnipeg, and any other city him and his wife don't want to live in). 2. He is the highest paid 60 point guy in the league. 3. Many teams that he would approve a trade to (big market teams), can snap up a 60 point UFA for less than $7.25 mill per year for the next 5 years. 4. Nagging injuries....he seems to get these every year. 5. He's 30 years old w/ 5 years to go on his deal.

Which one of those FA's gets better in the playoffs and has lead the playoffs in scoring? The only FA compareable to Krejci is Stamkos and hes looking at 10M.

That was 5 five years ago when he was 25 years old.

Krejci and Stamkos are not comparable at all. Stamkos is capable of scoring 50 goals, at worst, he'll score you 35. If I was a team looking for a C this off season and willing to pay $7.25 mill in salary, I'd sign Backes for $6 mill and use the $1.25 mill elsewhere. And as an added plus, they wouldn't have to give up anything.

I think you're overvaluing Krejci cause of the sweater he wears.

I'm not overvalueing him at all. Backes choked in every playoff but this year and hes older and more of a 50 point guy. The 1.25m is because he is clearly better than Backes. Most Bruins fans overvalue Bergeron, Krejci is the same in terms of what he means to the team, and therefore got paid more than Bergeron in terms of cap hit.

You just compared David Krejci to Steven Stamkos, so I think it's safe to say that you're overvaluing him. Krejci isn't some playoff hero, and he's definitely over paid. He lead the team in playoff scoring - FIVE YEARS AGO!! Move on.

He led the team in 2010-2011. he led the LEAGUE in 2012 2013. Hes more Compare able to Stamkos than he is Backes. Stamkos hasn't been nearly the player he was before Hamilton broke his leg.

Stamkos has scored 80 goals over the past two seasons. You would be a horrific GM.

yes 80 not like he was before the injury when he got 60 in one year. Stamkos is a one trick pony now. where he used to be a top 5 player like Ovie.

Stamkos at his worst, is stilll not comparable to Krecji piling up 60 points on 10 goals, and 50 2nd assists.
