Obviously these are some drastic/unrealistic moves. I think they would be possible if the B's had a savvy, proven veteran GM. But Sweeney has a gun to his head this year so I don't see this playing out. Trading Krejci for Datsyuk would help the B's a lot in the long term (on the condition that they could land Stamkos). From Detroit's perspective, they would find it attractive as they wouldn't have to give up any prospects to move Datsyuk's contract. But Detroit would have to be willing to take on Krecji at $7.25 for the next 5 years, which may be a non-starter for them. The B's could move Datsyuk to the AHL roster and his contract would cost the B's $6.5 mill against the cap for 16-17. This would give the B's a ton of cap space beginning in 2017-2018 to retain Marchand, Pastranak, Spooner, & at the same time take on another big free agent in the near future. This would also free up a spot or two for another young guy to play this year.

Trading for Montour might actually happen regardless of the other moves. Since Vattanen is re-signed it boxes Montour out in Anaheim, so I would assume Anaheim would look to move Montour for a forward.
