Trade Roy
I think your asks are a little steep here. I have to think that it would cost around the same as Hronek did last year a 1st and a 2nd. And he had an extra year of control with it ending in RFA instead of UFA.

The Red Wings want nothing to do with a 5 million AAV player that isnt an upgrade for the roster. Never mind the fact that the term remaining is another 4 years.
Just stop. You are stuck with that.

Jake is back
Smith has no place on the Red Wings, his current production is not worth his aav, nor is his defensive play. On the wings currently he would be the 7th best winger in production behind Perron and ahead of Rasmussen, Kostin at least adds an element to the wings that is sorely lacking in size and girt.
There is no upside for the wings in this deal, none at all. They only get a more complicated cap situation next season for no real impact on the ice this season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>edeangel84</b></div><div>All of those trades get turned down? A 4th for Ned and a 5th for Ruhwedel are easy trades. There’s nothing risky about those trades for either buyer. The Eller trade would be ideal for a playoff team even if it isn’t the wings. Smith probably gets dealt this summer or maybe at the deadline and with the retention I don’t see how he is t worth that rather medium price.
Tanev isn’t getting big money at his age. If we offer 4 years that’s going to beat what almost anyone else offers for term. Older players like term and don’t like moving around. They have families and likely want to end their playing days in one spot. Our retirement home is an ideal ending spot.</div></div>
He is a nice steady stay at home Right Handed defenseman with good size and can skate. Would you trade that quickly?

For me he doesn't move the needle enough to take on the extra year and add to the already problematic log jam at wing. The only way I would think this type of deal would work for the wings is if the RD was Holl, but that won't work for the Pens.

Why are the Red Wings doing this?
Who does he replace? Copp or Veleno (the bottom 2 centers)?
Why pay this price that seems high for no improvement.
Just no, works for the Pens but not the wings.

Also a holdup is that wasn't it reported that Marchment had OTT on his ten team no trade list. But that would get updated on July 1 so that may change.

Potential Cat returns
It will come down to which teams he is willing to sign an extension with, if its a small window its going to be hard for the Sens to recoup anywhere near this value. The PHI/LA/CLB trade gave us an idea how pricy it's going to be to move cap this offseason, and that may limit the market more, if say the Rangers are on it.

Marner to Detroit
The thought with the Debricat trade is that he would be open to signing long term in Det. There is no such thought with Marner thus no reason to give up anywhere near that type of haul that the Leafs would ask for in a trade. Timeline wise it's a fine idea, but it's not worth the assets if not here for the long term. Personally, I am against the Debricat trade to begin with unless its cheap, otherwise I believe in stay the course and don't rush the rebuild.
A team that has been good for a while and needs a push might take a risk like this, but the wings first need to establish their core then add or add without blowing apart the depth they have.

Jets Blow it up v 2
Not a student of the game hey. So many questions about the Det trade.
To give context for what you are asking for and the historical prospective, the Red Wings in 2001 traded for Dominik Hašek the cost being a 1st round pick (#30 in 2002) Vyacheslav Kozlov and future considerations. That is a long time ago, before the cap and when draft picks were not as highly valued. Cory Schneider in 2013 for the 9th overall pick is the next closest thing, but had two years left on his deal, and at the time was a league leader in goal. The point is that the ask for have here is beyond a reason for a historical reference.

Cat trades

Not at a 9 million cap hit. Thats the kicker, the leverage isn't with the Sens or any acquiring team but with DeBrincat himself. If he says no long term in OTT and also wants a "market rate" deal you are not going to have a ton of suitors for that.
Also I am with Yzerman's plan with the rebuild, which is don't rush it and moving the 1st and or Mazur seems counter to that. I understand takes the Red Wings out of a DeBrincat trade but so be it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Hill will cost $3.4-4mil/yr+. You could probably re-sign Nedeljkovic for $1.8-2.3mil/yr though
If you want the next Alexander Georgiev in Dan Vladar the Price is a 2nd RD Pick (OR TWO 3rds + a 5th minimum) or Equivalent (Low-Cost) Player/Prospect(s)
Vladar is signed for $2.2mil/yr, whereas Georgiev is 55% more at $3.4mil/yr, so there's additional value there as well
OTT, ARI, PIT & LAK will be in demand of Vladar's services as well, so we should get that value for him in return</div></div>
Detroit at this time when you figure promotions have about 28 million in cap space with 17 players under contract. Cap hit for this is not an important factor for the wings in the short term. They either will pay for hill or something of the like/ pay the price for a major upgrade/ follow the ned-husso route of a mid round pick for a goalie.
Another team might pay up for him with the need for the lower cap hit, but not Detroit. Pit and Ott dont have their 2nd, so i guess if want close to this value its AZ or LA

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shakabakes</b></div><div>What would be an example?
What Player/Prospect from the Rangers (or any other team) would be reasonable for you to be paired with a 1st Rounder for Bertuzzi?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spaceman</b></div><div>I highly doubt Detroit would decline this. Obtaining a 1st, a 2nd and a B+ prospect like Kravstov for Bertuzzi and Suter would be a very good return.</div></div>
Have you seen the price to move cap this year thus far, I dont believe it will get cheaper. Bert is worth at the deadline a 1st + (what the plus is up for debate as his production this year will influence it) asking for retention on it adds more(it cost a Van a second to move the same amount of cap for instance). Suter's value is about a mid round pick at this point, maybe even less given his contract. So the deal isn't the low ball offer some might say, but it doesn't help the wings that much beyond the 1st rounder. You need to find the right piece that would make the wings consider it.

The problem for that trade is Stevie Y, look at all of the defenseman he has drafted and signed, all are min 6ft and at least 180 pounds. It's clear that he wants the team to have a heavy defense and I am not sure the Grezlcyk will fit into that plan. Like the player thou.

Personally I would have preferred Petterson over Chariot but that wasn't the choice Stevie Y made. But with that choice made they are committed to it, so one matter how good Petterson is he is no longer a fit in Detroit unless something changes.

Pens After trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LetsGoPens69</b></div><div>Pens didn’t a LHD or RHD until they did..lol.
And Detroit rebuild seems to be just about over. Their signings this offseason proved that. I wouldn’t trust Maatta with 2nd pairing minutes anymore. But ok.
And Chiarot struggled with 1st pairing minutes and a 1st pairing role in Florida.
Larkin, Raymond and Seider seem like pieces to build around. And Hronek, Copp, and Bertuzzi are nice complimentary pieces(unless Bertuzzi gets dealt). With acouple more nice secondary pieces.
And waves of those prospects are gonna be coming through in a year or two.
You feel competitive this season with Maatta at 2nd pairing LHD??</div></div>
The Wings are not going to trade their only legit RD prospect for a LD upgrade now. Not with their depth of LD prospects and need to allow flexibility to tryout some of them in the NHL to see how they do.

I don't think that moves the needle for Detroit. It's just not enough upside coming back to give up Zadina's upside. Studnicka seems more like nice AHL depth than anything and the picks are mid rounders that would take year to have any impact and have a low chance of any impact.

Addressing RD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>C_M_O_R</b></div><div>I’ve also recently heard Petry tied to Detroit. It doesn’t make sense for Detroit without a package and retention. Also, Hronek was in the rumor mill within the past year. It’s an attempt at putting plausible moving pieces together. Guri was one of the worst possible players in Bones’s coaching system. He’s a solid player that needs help on his small game.</div></div>
I just don't understand the motive for Detroit to make this deal. You only get older on D, you can argue which player is better until you blue in the face cause is isn't a gap worth the 2nd round pick. And Gurianov doesn't move the needle at all for Detroit just adding to the glut of winger the Red Wings have. So in total this deal cost the Wings a haul, doesn't address any of their needs (top 6 C, Top 4 LD) and adds to areas of the team already deep in.
As for the general debate about Petry it seems like the wings would acquire him if the price was low enough but I can't see the Habs moving him for the cost the Wings would want to pay. He just doesn't improve the team enough to warrant any major assets traded.

I believe that Nylander is the more valuable player and the Wings would have to add something to it I still dont think that Stevie Y does it. Bertuzzi is a not as good Offensively nor has the term on his contract but on the hand is better defensively and has a much better compete motor with physicality. I think Nylander's lack of effect in the compete factor will remind Yzerman of Dourin and Mantha both of whom he traded cause they didn't fit his vision of the team building.

New ideas
I love the basic idea of this, but not the offer sheet. The wings have way too much young talent coming in the next couple of years to put that type of bullseye on themselves.
Cole is the type of player the wings should target, Holtby is a nice stopgap with upside to be a nice trade piece. Also love the idea of Sanheim but that isn't going to be enough for the Flyers to part with him, fits nicely with the wings expected plans.
As for the young players it comes down to who is coming over. We know that Johansson and Edvinsson are coming over. Reports of Viro and Wallinder also will be coming for camp as well that means you have to be careful with roster spots. Wallinder is the only one of that group not able to go to the AHL so that has to be taken into consideration.

Off-season using comps
On the Zacha trade there is a big difference in the comp. One it was a trade deadline deal that increases the cost of a player generally and second FLA is a competitive team in the middle of push for a cup. Neither of these things are present in the deal here.

You simply take all the negative like a 34 year old comment despite Petry being a top4 RD which always goes for a bounty. No team doesnt need a top4 RD especially an anemic defensive team. That is such a lazy narrative. Zzzzz</div></div>
Or Petry is a nice piece for a team that doesn't have a top 4 right handed offensive defenseman. He replaces Hornek on Detroit, but he cost more, is older by a decade and most importantly adds little production in comparison to. No point in the Wings giving up future value for something they already have regardless of how anyone feels about said value.
