I'll be honest, I think the Atlantic is WIDE open this year. The only team that I don't see being a factor is Detroit. I think Boston finishes higher then some have (so far) and I'd even say FLA might be a little low in these rankings.

123 is Tampa Bay, Montreal, and Toronto who are all very close. Everyone else is very close and ends up out of the playoffs in some order, except Detroit is last.

Just out of curiosity, for those who have Boston ranked bottom 4, what is is about Boston that you think their missing to be a 1-3 in the Atlantic.

Tampa is ready to take that top 3 spot, the Leafs are getting better, and the Canes/Islanders should get a spot in the playoffs in the Metropolitan. Boston hasn't really got worse, but they haven't got better and other teams have got better. There's no room for the Bruins.

Buffalo definitely has a chance at the playoffs. I don't think it'll happen, but i don't think you're crazy.

If i ask for your reason, will you say this? "oh, because they don't have a #1 goaltender and they're bad."

Detroit.

Montreal to miss the playoffs with price winning the Vezina. Buffalo is going to ruin a couple of teams chances down the stretch but just miss out. Boston stubbornly cling to a playoff birth. On a side not. Wouldn't be overly surprised if neither New York teams make the post season.

yeah, Greiss has a .916 SV% in his career, of course he's 'not a starter.' If Philly fans are allowed to say that Mason is a top 5 goalie in the league (even though he's not in Philly any more) then why can't Isles fans say that Greiss, who has better numbers, is a starter. He's not gonna win them a cup, but he's a starter.

I've given phillyjabroni a lot of crap for his stance on Steve Mason. You can't pull career stats and talk about right now. We could be saying that Jarome Iginla is worth $8 million per season because of his career goal total. It doesn't work that way.

Tampa is not very close to either Toronto or Montreal lol... much better team if they stay healthy. Toronto is #2 and Montreal would be #3

Greiss had a .913 SV% in 2016-17.

Montreal will struggle because Price can't carry the whole team. They will struggle to score goals. Good top line, but after that not much. Other teams shut down the top line, Habs in trouble.

Leafs: Besides the talent they have, I can't believe no one sees how lucky they were to stay freakishly healthy last year. Look at all the players going down already. It WILL happen to the Leafs eventually, and I think it will happen this year. Plus the fact that opposing teams now know they can't take them easy, opponents will be harder to play against. Plus some of the kids having great years as rookies will fall back a bit, not all, but 1 will, so then that can make a difference between a few wins over the course of the year.

Plus the fact that Andersen is not as good as people think, neither is the D. Leafs will struggle to make playoffs and may squeak in on a wildcard, but not top 3 in Atlantic.

Ottawa will miss Karlsson the first few weeks and have a bad start and make it hard to catch up to the top 2. Buffalo is getting better but still VERY inexperienced.

Bruins will have a GREAT mix of veterans and youth. and it's the youth that will surprise everyone.

If the Canes (or even the Isles) maybe five teams make the playoffs from the Metro.
Tampa, Leafs, Boston, Sens, Montreal, Buffalo, Florida,Detroit is my pre season prediction. To me only Tampa and Detroit are locks. Leafs, Boston, Pens, Montreal and Buffalo could all be as high as second or miss the playoffs.
