Well we cant trade them and we can no longer sign them. Its a flawed system

So if a team has a player they can't sign but want to get something for, they can't trade them and they have to just lose them for nothing????

If you have players whose rights expire this summer and you plan to sign them to ELCs for the '18-19 season, post them in the Player Rights Signing Thread (https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/124470). You're two weeks late but who cares. We just need to know if those players are being signed or if they will re-enter the draft.

When the offseason begins, you will be able to trade those contracts (if they were signed).

RAIF, to get the AAV for ELCs I think there is some guidance in the rules document (post #1, https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/91689). Just use those guidelines if the player has not signed a real-life ELC, otherwise use the real values.

I know, it just seems a little weird to me that we can't trade player rights now.

This seems ridiculously trivial. What are you going to get in return for a guy that is too old to re-enter the draft and is too bad to take up a contract spot? I don't think people are going to be lining up to make offers.

Not necessarily to old or sheet, just guys i dont see fitting on my team. Im sure somebody will give me a 4th/5th/6th/7th for a former 2nd or 3rd rounder

To go with that, i have had people offer me picks for the players im not resigning but i cant say yes because of this problem we have ongoing

Ok, well there a freeze on all trades right now. Trade them on draft day or re-sign them and trade them, there's no rule against that.

They will need to be on a contract to avoid re-entering the draft, so just post in the 'Players Rights Signing Thread' that you will sign them for '18-19 season and trade the contract on draft day. Shouldn't be a big deal if you can make a handshake deal now and make the trade official when the freeze is lifted. I think you guys are making this too difficult. We just need to know which guys will re-enter the draft. They won't take up a contract space this year if you announce that you are signing them so just sign them if you are confident that you will trade them, or let them walk if they don't fit into your plans for '18-19 and beyond.

When is v3 starting?

Tentatively assigning teams on June 1st

I am looking forward to the new team assignments coming on June 1st.
Question I have is, with the real life NHL Draft taking place on June 22 & 23, will those real life selections be part of our new team rosters as it will no doubt change every teams reserve lists of prospects.
Also following this thought, I think it would make sense for us to have our new team pages posted and active on June 24.
The reason I think this is we could then use the week of June 25-30 as a Free Agent signing week prior to the real life date of July 1. That way we can easily use CF as our resource to look up available UFA/RFA.

I hope this makes sense to others as it does in my head. I fear I may not have translated my thought process in a way that makes sense to others.

I would like to submit a request that we go off of IRL draft order for the game. For example, whoever has Buffalos’ pick gets the #1 choice (whoever that is), and whoever has Montreal’s pick gets #3 (whomever has it).

Even if you didn't have both of those picks, I thought of basing it off real life to some degree as well. In the irl lottery, the 1st worst team got pick #1, the 11th worst team got pick #2, and the 4th worst team got pick #3.

In the game, that translates to: VGK gets #1, NSH gets #2 (so yeah you still luck out), and ARI gets #3. It would be consistent with real life, but it might generate backlash from the three in-game lottery winners, so I'm not sure about it.

Couple things I'd like v3 to mirror in terms of real life....

Salary cap: if real life moves to $80M then our game should match that

Waivers: should also match the time frame as real life. That means the cut off time for claims should end at 3pm EST everyday. We could alter the time a bit to fit into everyone's life schedule, so maybe 9pm EST in game.
But essentially it should be a 24 hour time period.

Remember, these are just suggestions.
