Draft and Summer moves

Équipe: 2024-25 Canadiens de Montréal
Date de création initiale: 18 juin 2024
Publié: 18 juin 2024
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Not going into speculation about who'll they'll pick at 5th overall.. Too many changes since the combine.

Just looking at the current scenario for Move they could do, and the only assets that could be moved for those players or picks.

Don't see this as a "This is what is going to happen" but more of a "If this move happens, is this the best they can provide the other team" situation.

I see the following list as players HABS won't move unless they get a real 80+Pts scorer under 27 years old or something that will be of an high overpay for these guys:
Nikc Suzuki
Cole Caufield
Juraj Slafkovsky
Kirby Dach
Michael Matheson
Kaiden Guhle
Lane Hutson
Oliver Kapanen
Owen Beck
David Reinbacher
Adam Engström
Logan Mailloux
Jakub Dobes

With the UFA add-ons, I still have 26.7M$ next year to sign our RFAs, and haven't sacrificed the future.

Détails additionnels:
3rd round pick for Dvorak without retention
CHI
  1. Dvorak, Christian
Détails additionnels:
CHI fans, before you go nuts on this, hear me out. Seems like your team want to help develop Bedard, Dvorak has the track record of being a solid player able to help younger guys. He's only a 1 year contract which, if it pans out can be signed again for considerably less and play on the 3rd or 4th, or again, retain 50% at TDL and deal him for a prospect or a pick (could be a 3rd or even 2nd if he plays well this year).
2.
MTL
  1. Necas, Martin [Droits de RFA]
  2. Suzuki, Ryan
Détails additionnels:
CAR trade out Necas, add Suzuki as a prospect for HABS and bring in Nick's brother to develop in Laval.

Giving up 2X 1st round picks; Armia and Harris who can play now; Barron who is in development but still can be played now if they can't resign Deangelo or Pesce, or even flip him in another deal as a package to get picks, or players back. Kidney for the future, Heineman for depth.

Hawks aren't paying for your cap dump no matter how you try to spin it.

If you have to start a trade description off with “before you go nuts on me…” it probably isn’t a great trade. Wayyyy back when I first joined cap friendly I remember getting flamed for saying Brent Seabrook and some garbage later round picks was worth Floridas first round pick for much the same reasons you are suggesting here. It was deserved flaming, and helped teach me a lesson, and so now you should benefit from knowing…

Chicago rejects.

Dvorak needs to play and then maybe around the trade deadline a contender takes him on as a third line center but other than that I don't see anyone taking him off our hands free this off season.

Makes no sense for any team to pay for a cap dump regardless of their own situations. Hawks can easily sign a free agent that's not a cap dump. To think Dvorak gets a 3rd is a bit crazy honestly.

Firstly, I am positive that Canes don't want prospects or projects/picks. Habs will need to do the work on getting a top 6 to acquire Necas.

Second, you traded for Necas, but didn't resign him. Now you have less than 6mil to play with.

Look IF Dvorak stays healthy and plays and IF he can rediscover some of the potential he showed in the past then perhaps he MAY be useful. IF he produces at a decent level the Hawks MAY be able to deal at the TDL for a decent return.

That’s just too many if and mays for me to feel comfortable commiting $4.45m to Dvorak. puckpedia’s cap relief calculator estimated the cost of dumping the final year of Dvorak’s cap hit at the 3rd pick of the 2nd round, so I counter with either Montreal’s or Pittsburgh’s 2025 2nd round pick, I will even let you decide which one you send to Chicago.

If Dvorak plays well enough next season and MTL is willing to retain half his cap hit, MAYBE a team offers a 4th round pick for him. But they are NOT getting a 3rd for him at any point.

Finally someone who's got a head on his shoulder and comes back with something interesting. I'd do that 2nd pick. LIke I said, open to honest debate, not babble from trolls.

Thank you sir for at least coming back with better info.

Thanks. Don't care.. Yes they accept, but modified as per someone who actually came back with some value to his response, Snowhawk18's suggestion of Dvorak + 2nd round pick PIT 2025 to Chicago.

As a canes fan that has seen a ton of these Necas trades, would MTL be better off offer sheeting Necas to like 8 mil than doing this? I have a feeling if a Necas trade doesn't happen before July 1 MTL has the picks to put Carolina in tough spot and the offer sheet saga can continue.

In fairness, you started the babble thinking dvorak is worth a 3rd just because Bedard asking the Hawks to gamble that he plays well and get a 3rd back the TDL...just doesn't make sense if you logically think about it

If you can’t appreciate my sharing experience with you then fine, you are probably young anyways. If you went from Dvorak is worth a third to Chicago to Dvorak is worth sending a high 2nd to Chicago then that speaks to the quality of the value of your initial post anyways.

Your experience… as what a third grader who put up a pic and name of the Hawks manager thinking your “experience “ is worth a penny???? LMAO!
