As a hawks fan I’d be happy with this. We need a cost controlled ~60 point forward to play in the top 6 with Bedard. Batherson seems to fit the bill for me. The hawks have an abundance of 2nd rounders too, plus we get to keep our own in this proposed deal. Seems fair to me 👍

Also our defense and 4th line are terrible so Korpi and Forsy are going to be awful again.

Batherson looks like the old Batherson, before the high ankle sprain. I agree Ottawa isn't giving Batherson away for 2 second rounders. Ottawa is fine offensively. Yes we have to add someone to replace Tank, but they don't have to add an $11M player to do it..... Money will have to be spent on defense for sure. The most important thing is finding the right coach. If we don't....It's another wasted season no matter who we add.

Yeah that won't be happening. Under Martin, Batherson was better than a point per game. If he plays in a system that helps him defensively. He will easily hit the 70 point park next season. At less than $5M? That's just too valuable to move....especially for draft picks. We will need his offense.

Marner with the extension means you're adding to that package. Likely adding a significant piece to, think about what it would take for a team to get Brady and then add to it, that's how valuable Marner is with an extension

You have to be kidding? Tkachuk is the game's premiere power forward. He's likely #1 on most team's wishlists for a playoff run....Not Marner. Geez Teams would be trying peddle him at the deadline for a guy like Tkachuk, and you'd have to add on top of Marner. I'd take Tkachuk at $8.2M before two Marners at $9.5M. Imagine Marner if he asks for $11M? Forget it. Marner is a great talent, but he's not a player you can win with.
