I'm going to purposely undervalue players a little in trades because with the ACGM audience you can never get anything right.
I'm also going to try to overpay Free Agent's more than my instinct would for the same reason.
Also, the first five trades are player for pick, don't take it personally that I traded someone to your favourite team, I only thought about it briefly where players might fit needs, or fit existing styles of teams. The message is really just 'these guys need to be traded for picks'.
forgot to leave a note for the Detroit trade: Looking at their defence and the decisions Yzerman has made, along with the money they'll have available I think it is fair to say they could be interested in Rielly if he was made available. Had trouble figuring out a fair return but I would be happy with that. Almost traded him to Seattle (closer to BC/home) let me know if that would have been better.
I think Webber and Mattinen are going to be setup for Borgman/Rosen type roles in the team next season, will impress in camp even though there may end up being an overall concern about how ready they are. The identity and different tools they would be perceived to bring to the team will probably matter to Treliving and whoever he replaces Keefe with.
I really liked Gregor and Dewar this year. I hope they get resigned. I used to think extending fourth liners like this was dumb, but I recognize that it's good to retain the guys who don't do the 'spectacular' stuff and work hard and do the dirty work when you know they'll play for you instead of always trying to pick up bargain bin guys who might not work out.
Brossoit seems like the best goalie in this years UFA class, but its a very underwhelming class so I don't know what kind of money or term he'll get since he's 31and was a backup on a top team (could have inflated his numbers).
I actually liked Domi a lot this year and I would like him to stay. I thought Bertuzzi was alright but whatever they would bring him back on would probably be at a worse value so he can walk. I liked Edmundson too I'd like it if he stays.
Roy and Pesce have been my pipe dreams for years. I wouldn't care if they were paid 8-7 million a piece to bring them in if that's what it would take.
I think McCabe has to be dealt because he had a lot of rough patches this year. he's not a main cast player and he doesn't bring anything special to the table. Even though I like him he's an easy player to deal to open up space for someone new. Liljegren Should be as well, Don't get me wrong, I love Lil' Timmy Jegren, but he hasn't made the steps we've needed him to into the top 4 and it's time we move on form him. I hope he breaks out somewhere. I really like Timmins too but he gets injured a lot and it's obvious his ceiling is just a good 3rd pairing guy anyway. I hope he can shine in that role elsewhere but he's not bringing anything new or spectacular.
Kampf, Jarnkrok, are great depth guys. They do everything you ask. I just want something new and wouldn't mind seeing them dealt to restack the picks we don't have. Replace them with guys who can bring some new culture to the team.
People will call me crazy dealing Rielly. I know I am crazy. He has been on this team the longest. And I love him. But I think another really big change needs to be made beside dealing Marner and Tavares leaving next year. I think Rielly and the team have outgrown eachother in weird ways. He deserves a team that doesn't have all these problems and questions around it. The Leafs need a team with some distance from the last 12~ years of its history, and Rielly is that last connection.
Finally, Marner, I hate this guy. I don't care what you have to say about it. I truly hope he leaves, even if its as a free agent. I completely recognize he's a great player in the regular season. But in the playoffs? year after year I've seen him play a great games 1-3/4 and then in the final games 4/5-7 You can barely notice him on the ice. He literally scores at a 0.90 PPG pace in the first 3/4 games of a series, and at a 0.35 PPG pace in the last 3/4 games of a series. He's a ghost. I honestly bet this could change on another team, but I am sick and tired of it.
Retool? Bro this is just dumping all the under-performers lmao
retool has a lot of meanings. It's just a word somewhat successful teams and their fans use to make bigger changes to a team most would glance at and think they don't need.
Youre right. overpaying for bottom pairing defenders always works out
at least edmundson was actually good in his time here. Was never bad with his past teams either. He's not a chiarot or holl. He's actually somewhat talented compared to all those other big guys who just get money thrown at them.
You found me out; superstar nhl player in the middle of playoffs but I took the time to create a burner account on cap friendly to dump on some 🤡’s preposterous trade ideas. #hack
I'm not sure CHI would do Korchinski 1 for 1 for Marner. Especially if they didn't have an extension with a reasonable price in place.
Not that it's not the value isn't there, but it makes absolutely no sense for them to give up futures for an overpaid pending UFA as a rebuilding team
That's fair because as we know NHL teams have a hilarious value system for trading prospects for established stars. They really may not do that 1 for 1 you're right. I make that trade assuming there's an extension in place but i always make the mistake of not writing it down for people to see.

I knew it. I hope they trade you or else I'll jack your car next. i heard you like your women like your jersey number.

So then your definition of a retool is what the leafs have been doing the past 3 years? Lmao
