Bad contracts for veterans and picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>I don’t see San Jose taking on a contract with an extra year and is ultimately more money. Unless there’s incentive there’s no point</div></div>
I’d do an Anderson for Vlasic swap from the Sharks perspective. It’s only 1 additional year and it’s a lower AAV. The incentive is that the Sharks can possibly try to rebuild Anderson’s value and then flip him for a pick while also helping to clear some of the log jam on LD.

assuming sharks get celebrini
Replace the Winnipeg 1st with Montreals and switch Hutson with Reinbacher. That is realistically what it would take for Smith.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>im pretty sur if they offered suzuki, caufield, slaf, reinbacher, hutson, our next 3 first and ghule the sharks would dot it. Anyway this is just an obvious ridiculous argument.</div></div>
Ha well I guess the Sharks would have to take that offer lol. It’s more so for the picks because if you give up all those players you’re pretty much guaranteed to finish last the next 2 years.

Moving up to 1st overall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>well, they definitly do, they just wont give them up...</div></div>
They don’t. There’s a very short list of players who are worth giving up a potentially elite 1C on his ELC. Montreal doesn’t have any of those players making a trade for the Celebrini pick impossible.

Montreal doesn’t have the assets necessary to trade for the Celebrini pick.

Don’t think that gets Saros.
Guentzal, Reinhart, Hanafin, and Roy would all also require much more to sign here.

Version 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iAce</b></div><div>Thats fair, I think he may be the most untouchable piece on our roster. I have a question for you and other fans. What is your window, or how long until this roster actually gets really good? For example, because the Wild are minus $15 mill in cap space, our window couldn't begin for another 2 years. Thats why I would move a guy like Zucc. I see the Sharks window being 3-5 years away, maybe a bit longer. Because of that, I don't think Faber would help a ton for the next 3 years. If you were to trade back this year and get a potential 1-2c and is young, with 2 first round picks. In 3-5 years Rossi is still 25-27 and is in his prime. You get 2 first rounders on top of it to get other talented pieces. I think you are right though, my brain just goes to what that pick will do for you guys. Pick Celebrini, let him sit in the NCAA another year, hopefully start building a roster out for protect him. He isn't Bedard where he was a lock to be a star. If he doesn't pan out to be that guy, you are even further back from being competitive. And if you can't surround him with talent he doesn't develop properly. Just my thoughts and rants. But ultimately that pick doesn't move and you guys get an exciting piece for the future!</div></div>
It simply comes down to if the Sharks are giving up a potential elite 1C at the start of his career then they need an elite young player at a premium position coming back in return. Rossi is good but he’s probably not going to be an elite 1C. Those picks you included will get you good prospects, but again the likelihood of them turning into truly elite players is low.
The player that fits the bill is Faber. He’s only 21, so even though the Sharks are a few years away from contention he’s still young enough to be in his prime on the next good Sharks team.

Wow these just kept getting worse and worse. That Predators offer is brutal. What makes you think that is remotely close to acquiring the best goalie prospect in the league?

Realistic offseason with winning the lottery
I don’t like a lot of these moves for the Sharks.
Jack Roslovic for 4 years at $4.55M? Why?
Why send Smith back to college? He’s already led the NCAA in scoring as a freshman and is a Hobey Finalist. What’s left to prove in college?
Celebrini on the 3rd line with 2 huge question marks at wing? Again, why? He should be their 1st line center and they should be doing everything they can to bring in a good top 6 veteran winger to play with him.

Retool and hockey trades
I think if the Penguins do get their 1st this year they should trade it for a good young NHL player.
This team that you’ve made looks a lot like the team that’s going to miss the playoffs this year except Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson are all a year older and you’ve locked yourself into another high AAV long term contract for a player in his 30s.

No interest from the Sharks in that trade. Maybe give us that late Vancouver 2024 1st and Forsberg and we’ll send back Blackwood.
As of now the Sharks have their 2 goalies for next season.

I agree. Kotkaniemi for free is a no brainer for a team like the Sharks. He’s only 23 and the Sharks have a ton of cap space.

It’s probably around a 3rd, but I don’t think the Sharks move him in the offseason unless it’s an overpay, which this is.
