They moved a lot of their d-men on the right side at the TDL, TVR could fill this role for the near future.

I personally don't see room for McMichael in this teams future, he won't be playing as a top 6 centre with him not being good enough right now and Leonard/Strome taking those spots for the next 4-8 years. Lappiere is a better 3C imo and I don't know how well he works as a winger.

Détails additionnels:
An odd swap, but one that kind of makes sense?

Edmonton needs a puck- moving RD to play with Nurse (since we're stuck with his stupid 9.25 deal) and Washington has a surplus of them. As an Oiler fan I don't know how good Jensen has been but I heard he had kind of a rough year, is he even an upgrade on Ceci?? Feels fairly low risk for Washinton here as Kulak just plays the LD role for as long as they need him to

so lets get this right. A guy scored 31 goals for CGY last year and you think they will give him to you for a late 1st, a 30 pt 3rd liner and TVR?

If Jenson was 3-4 years younger maybe. I think he's a Tanev-lite, but he's in his mid-30s on a bad contract. Oilers say no.

I’d rather have Yegor. I think he still has more in him, especially if he’s playing on his proper wing with Zary and a better Huberdeau. Plus if the PP actually gets going, he’ll have a field day on there too. I could see 40+ goals in the future

Duchene such a classic example of a guy who looks great because he finally has been asked to play a lesser role on a really good team. He can't be a 1c anymore.

Also for that package you can get a better player than Sharangovich

Feels as if I've received some pretty opposite reactions to the Yegor trade.

I feel like both responses are a little overreactive, on the Flames end they're getting the 17th overall selection (more of a mid-first round pick where lots of talented forwards can be selected), a former 1st round centre prospect to play in their middle 6 where he has more offensive opportunities and a top-4 RD who can be flipped in the future at the TDL and play big minutes. This is a pretty good package for a 30 goal scorer they're gonna have to pay big money too if they want to flip him.

On the Capitals side, McMichael's future in Washington with Leonard and Cristall coming up looks scarce right now, he hasn't shown much of a offensive outburst and has seemed to struggle defensively. He also won't get the right opportunities with Lappiere, Strome and Leonard in his spots. TVR will most likely be moved for around a 2nd/3rd anyways, and the Flames could be a suitor for him since they moved all their veteran RD at the TDL. The 1st hurts to lose but the odds of them providing the same production as Sharangovich is fairly low imo, I would feel more comfortable with a 30 goal scorer than the 17th overall pick in a fairly weak draft (who can still be quite good but is no promise)

Mcmichael legit has some of the best defensive metrics in the league, He outscore Yegor in their 22/23 Year so if he's shown no promise look what Yegor did. Laslty Leonard, Cristall are wingers.... So just say you don't know puck or watch the caps next time lol

Yegor had less points than Mcmihael did at the same age, Mcmichael is also a center and a beast defensively. The caps wouldn't even do it 1 for 1 lol

Do you really see that in Yegor?

He had a great year shooting and got PP time for once, but of his 4 years here's how this year ranks:

At even strength individual metrics:
shots/60: worst
shot attempts/60: worst
xgoals/60: worst
points/60: 3rd worst
goals/60: 1st (again driven by shooting heater)

On ice metrics:
goals%: worst
shots%: 2nd
corsi: worst
fenwick: 2nd
xGoals%: worst

and that's despite getting the most offensive zone starts of his career.

He shot 17.3%, but his overall game did not get better. At age 25 he'd either have to get to even more ridiculous shooting rates, or vastly improve his underlyings to reach 40

Would rather hold onto Alexeyev and play him next to Kulak in this scenario, I would hate to see Washington sell low on an effective 3LD who's signed for basically nothing, especially if McIlrath ends up as the scratched defenseman.

Just because a player had less points at the same age doesn't mean it follows that said player will develop into a better player.

That's not a late 1st. Washington barely made the playoffs and even if they do manage to beat the Rangers they have to make the conference finals for that 1st to be any later than 17th OA. Flames absolutely accept this

17th is a late first you are on the 2nd half of the 1st round.
On top of it, it's a weak draft.

That is a pretty ignorant take. Being the 1st pick in the 2nd half of the 1st round is not late. It is smack dab in the middle of the round. On to of that this draft class is just as strong as most other years until around pick 25, that's when the falloff begins. If you are getting someone like Brandsegg-Nygard or Jiricek at #17 that's on par with recent 17th OA's like Kemell, Bolduc, Reichel, and Krebs.

I think he could’ve hit 40 this year. For a good portion of the season he was placed at C, which in hindsight was a bad idea, he’s clearly not built for it. That harmed his numbers. It at least costed him 10 goals. Put him with a playmaker and a play driver and I think he could.

There’s no way he could hit 40 unless he suddenly massively improves his entire game at age 26. He generated 21 expected goals and that’s with PP1 time. Let’s be very realistic

Meh the only comparable would be Jared McCanns 40 on 20 expected goals. But again banking on a player to shoot double their expectation is wild, even the best shooters in the NHL do that once in a blue moon. And while Yegor has a good shot, he certainly isn’t one of the best shooters in the NHL

Ok well two things here,

1. When you look up Leonard's position it lists it as "Centre", can't really blame me for assuming he plays centre when that's what Google tells me
2. It would make sense for him to out-score Yegor in his highest scoring year and by far Yegor's worst, kind of cherry picking stats here
3. Cristall and Leonard are taking up middle 6 spots no matter where McMichael slots in
4. I don't have a analytics account but based on the Caps goal differential and his +/- I chose to make an assumption that he wasn't selke matierial

1. I woulda assumed you had known anything about prospects to know about the freshman line at BC this year where you would of seen Leonard play on the wing... where he has played since NTDP so yes google can be wrong......
2.Im not Cherry picking Yegors worst year I'm literally comparing the two of them when they were both the same age........
3. again Cristall and Leonard have both not played center in years
4.Connor Mcmcihael Jfresh cards EV defense was in the 94th Percentile, 78th offensive but sits at 22% finishing so one would guess he learns how to shoot better by the time he's Yegors age and bam a 30 goal scorer who also one of the best defensive players in the league.....
