Détails additionnels:
I feel like Marner has become underrated these days. He's still a good winger who can put up close to 100 pts over 82 GP, and is probably a top 5 RW in the league. However, I saw a trade that said Laf and K'Andre for Marner and Niemela is a bad trade - I don't get it. So here's my package for the Leafs.
David Savard provides a defensive right shot defenseman that the Leafs need.
Jordan Harris is a young 3rd pair LD who makes more sense as an option on the 3rd pair over Timmins.
Jake Evans is swapped for David Kampf - Kampf is worse than Evans and on a worse deal, so this is net positive value for MTL.
It seems unlikely that the Leafs will be able to keep Max Domi, so they also acquire a young, cost controlled 3/4C who might have 2nd line upside as a Danault-type player.
They also get two first round picks as well as Emil Heineman, who has upside as a middle six F.

Even 3C can be important pieces would you rather have Suzuki-Dach-Danault down the middle or Suzuki-Dach-Dvorak?

If the leafs loose Marner and Kampf, why would they not be able to keep Domi?

Obviously this is nothing at all TO would be interested in. Marner instantly becomes the best player in Montreal by a big margin and the leafs get a bunch of depth and 2 1sts. One late 1st and a future one down the road. Absolutely ridiculous

Just … propsterous. A negative 10 on the likelihood scale, not to mention Leafs trade a top 20 player to division rival for scraps 🤦🏻

The Leafs, should they wish to trade Marner, are going to want some serious pieces coming back their way. Marner is an elite offensive winger. You don’t pick that kind of player up for spare parts/prospects when the team trading said winger is a perennial playoff contender.

A Marner trade is a hockey trade. Think Jones - Johansen when it was done.

Acquiring Marner would involve a player like Guhle, Hutson, Reinbacher, Matheson… not draft picks, or prospects, or older veterans.

If Edmundson could get traded for positive value not once, but twice in less than a year, then So could savard. He’s not a cap dump what so ever

edmundson cost a 3rd and a 5th and came with a sub 900k cap hit, oh and he's actually much better defensivly than Savard. So yeah, Savard would be a cap dump, he's awful.

A couple years ago he was a much better player, he's been Flaming garbage for 2 years now, so he is worth much much less, prices dont remain static.
Convenient that montreal didnt want to move him when no one actually wanted him

I agree he’s not what he used to be, and he’s 100% not with a 1st now. But he does not have negative value. If you’ve actually been watching Habs hockey you would know that a lot of our young Defensive players have actually been playing good along side Savard, which is why Montreal didn’t want to deal him just yet.

ive watched plenty of habs hockey and he sucks out loud, he is the worst hab defending by a mile and that's saying something. He allows constant shots and chances against and has the turning circle of a drunken tugboat.
if you watched any habs hockey you'd know this

I watch every game. Doesn’t change the fact that he had literal interest from other teams this past deadline. Reason Habs didn’t move him is because our young defenceman play very well along side him. All because you don’t like him or think he sucks doesn’t change what I’m saying.

He’s not a cap dump

He had interest in other teams

And Habs didn't want to move him because he’s good for the young guys

Look it up those are all just facts. Wether you like it or not

interest means litterally nothing without a price. For all you know that interest could have been "we'll give you a contract that is just as bad for a different type of player" also you legit have no idea if there was actual interest or if montreal manufactured it to get him in the rumours. and clearly you didnt watch him play once

He is a cap dump

no he didnt

the habs want to move him because he sucks and costs too much

you do realize that GMs say that people have interest in their guys they want to move just to get their names in the rumours every single year right? And that the Habs are notorious for it right?
Of course you arnt. You believe every single rumour that makes you feel better about the habs and their bad players, right?

Hey man I get what you’re saying. You could be right, but I’m just basing my info off of articles I read. That’s all. I get your mad because your favourite team hasn’t been relevant since 67. But don’t mean you gotta speak none sense. Worry about your team actually doing something in the playoffs for once
