No interest in that. Rather keep KK whose younger, better, and less injury prone

Moving Rashevsky for one year of Kovacevic isn't that interesting. I'd like to see how he fares in the NHL when his KHL deal finishes in 2025.

Canes would move KK for cap reasons. Pointless to take an older, worse player who makes a similar amount.

What's the good asset NY is getting for your new #2 LhD that cost the Islanders the 13th overall draft pick, which turned into tonight's debutante Frank Nazar?

Dvo only has one season left on his deal, so there's that

no idea what OP is on about though, trading for that KK contract is a god awful idea

It's not realistic to think that waiver fodder like Kovacevic is going to return a decent young prospect like Rashevsky.

Which player will realistically play more NHL games? Think about it.

You think that Harris, Stuble or the third will ever be a top-4 defender?!? Really?!?!?

Exactly. That's why it's not realistic to think you're getting anything of value for Kovacevic.

Not that i agree with Value
But Given Romanov was drafted and developed by us im pretty confident in saying Romanov has more potential but less upside.
Plus Romanov in many regards has declined since leaving MTL in most regards with exception to 8-9 points a season more

Struble is set to finish ahead of Romanov's rookie year here in most every regard
Like Romanov he can lay the Boom and he does all this while being able to thrive on LD or RD as he's only been in LD heavy systems making him adapt to get minutes.
Harris is a good #4-5 D but not undisputed Top 4 Dman while Struble you could continue to improve upon Romanov's career totals in MTL

Again value on this trade is off and i certainly dont want another Dman in if im moving one out
That said i'd take struble over Romanov

I think the Habs should consider themselves lucky if the Isles only say no, and don't drop a bunch of four-letter words in with the no.

Legitimately curious what you are basing that on. First - 8-9 points per season might not be a lot for a top-6 forward, but Romanov has gone from scoring 0.14 pts/game with Montreal to 0.28 with the Isles - literally doubling his scoring output. That's a pretty significant step towards being an all-around top-4 guy.

The team's 5v5 numbers with him have been excellent too - his two seasons with the Isles, New York's outscored the opposition 117-96 (the Habs were outscored 99-88 during his tenure in the same 5v5 situations.) He's committing less penalties, he's had less giveaways, and he's blocking shots at basically the same rate. I just don't know how you can look at what he's done the past 2 years in New York and argue that he's declined compared to his time in Montreal.
