I don't think Vancouver would be willing to move Hronek without a RHD coming back, with us also sending the 1st over and getting Marners huge contract it really limits our ability to get another RHD and leaves only Noah Juulsen as our only top RHD, i think the value is close but the fit isn't there for Vancouver.

I think they do if they can reasonably sign 2/3 UFAs better then Juulsen and Allvin thinks a bottom pairing alternating Juulsen/one of Woo/McWard/Johansson is the right call that said Marner isn't who we should be going for someone with size and skill makes more sense. We already have enough small forwards we don't need anymore even if Marner would be the best of the bunch.

We are able to yes if we keep Hronek at the price op used, however we would not be able to with Marners caphit coming back i like Marner but he isn't the guy i'd go after, buchnevich or guentzel are our best bet

Fair enough yeah I'd say that is max I think Hronek is worth keeping at (imo he should be 7m tops). I do think if he wants more should be used as trade bait and have the 7.5-8m used on 2 replacement D. (Ie. Tanev and Justin Schultz together should be 7.5-8.5m though they would not have Hronek's shot or offensive capacity but better defensively.)

Hronek is latest in long line of over rated dmen, especially RHD - Pesce springs to mind. Good player but Marner is top 20 player in the league, elite at both ends and in his prime.
Obviously Marner not going to waive but at 8x$11.5M - why would he not just extend with Leafs?

Marner has roughly Tkachuk's value when he was traded to Florida... What Tre got back was Huberdeau (115 point player), Weegar (roughly similar, probably better, to Hronek), a 1st, a 4rth and a prospect...

In other words, you are quite a bit of value off going to Toronto...

In a vacuum Marner is worth a lot more than this, but I don’t see either team doing this.

Can’t see the Canucks being interested in this. The deal would leave them with like $8M in cap space to sign 3 top 4 defencemen, they’d be lucky to even get two with that amount of money. The hole in the top 6 would be fixed, but it would make a much bigger hole on the defence.
