Description
Let’s assume that the world turn upside down this summer and Sid gives us a list of teams to work out a trade with and for some reason a team like the Habs who aren’t any good is on it all because he liked them as a kid are on it. You don’t get to send us your junk as part of the deal. You either overpay or we find someone who will.

Not sure why he would go to MTR. Not sure if MTR would even be interested in trading for him rather than signing him as a UFA in 2025.

Would rather just roll the dice and see if he'd want to sign with MTL when he's a free agent. Only reason right now he'd want to come to MTL is to have his own Tavares pajama moment. Habs would be in a better position of their rebuild too at that point.

Selling the farm to try and get him a year early makes no sense for the Habs nor Crosby...

he won't be a free agent, either pens extend him or he's moved and gets extension done before july 1

Neither you nor Dubas has any control over that. Crosby and his iron clad NMC will dictate exactly what he wants to happen.

Crosby is a generational player yes but on his old days. He's 36 and even if he comes with an extension he might not be as much valuable as a Guentzel who was a rental for Carolina this year. Guentzel was traded for way less than what you propose. If you want equal value to what Guentzel got you, MTL might propose something like Anderson, Kidney, Farell a conditionnal 2nd that can become a first and a 2nd

Pens fan see hertl just get moved for less than two late 1sts and still think crosby as a pending ufa at 37 years old is worth a top 10 pick ++++++ is hilarious.

He isn’t going anywhere. It’s your own delusional brains that think he is. IF he wanted a trade our response would be to ask for your first born and expect it to be paid.

If only the world worked like that. In this hypothetical trade scenario, Crosby gives a list of let's say 5 teams. Habs don't have to give close to what is above, or even overpay, they just have to beat out those other 4 teams.

Which would likely be easy considering their prospect pool depth and number of picks in up coming drafts.

So I get you would want some ridiculous overpay but it's far more likely they get whatever they can and not anything close to what's above

No he will resign here this summer as he literally said he would. After that is done he will be here next season. IF he decides in the summer of 2025 that he wants to lost some contenders to take calls from, WE drive that price. 87 isn’t going to be a rental in March. No one is making that mistake.

But we haven’t? He is resigning this summer, so he’s obviously not ticked off. Canadian media invented a story off one out of context quote and you ate it up!

well aware he has a full nmc, but there is zero chance he goes to dubas and says 'hey i'm not signing an extension because this team isn't good enough and you're also not trading me anywhere'

if he wants to sign, he signs. if he doesn't want to, he's traded. not complicated

same story with mcdavid. he will be traded before he is a ufa or have an extension done well before he is

Or he very easily says: we will take a kick at it in 24-25 and I decide on the future that summer.

And leaves.

I said if he wanted a trade we would be trading him to the highest bidder. He isn’t going to be traded in March as a rental. That’s never happening, so the team that bids the highest wins. Your fan base has offered trash and more trash. That’s now how it works.

He has already stated he is signing an extension this summer. After that is signed then we can see what happens and if he wants a trade. He is never going to see free agency.

That is one possible scenario. Here's another:

Dubas goes to Crosby "I want to rebuild, but want you to be apart of it, so sign this extension". Crosby goes "I want to stay, but no rebuild, then I'll sign". Conversations go nowhere and it gets pushed into next season because both sides want to make it work.
Their season is underwhelming, rebuild is inevitable. Crosby says "I only want to go play with *insert team name*", Dubas contacts *insert team name* but they offer basically nothing because they know they are the only team on the list. Dubas caves at the deadline, because it's the only offer he has or he gets nothing.

Do you think this is unrealistic? Simply swap Dubas' name with Davidson and Crosby with Kane...

He has already said he is resigning this summer. The entire scenario is fiction in the heads of Canadian media.
