TBH, If MAtheson is getting traded - it will be at the draft for a better package than this. He's not a rental - we can take our time to make a better trade than that.

they likely want higher end talent like a good prospect. They already have tons of depth. Maybe something that moves them up the draft order. Something like Matheson+Winnipeg 1st for a higher 1st+

Lol do people actually think Matheson will get a bigger return than this? I don't even think he'll get this. Also don't think Dallas needs him

seriously if there was an offer on the table for a 1st and a 2nd with a prospect habs should jump all over it. Matheson is great offensively and logs a ton of minutes but he gets exposed routinely defensively, even more so then some of the younger dman currently up.

Yeah, getting this return for Matheson, while taking on Suter, would be an absolute dream. But I don't really know, with Hanifin and Chychrun on the market too, how anyone would this for Matheson. Matheson can do some very good things, but he's a flawed player - the kind of player who gives back everything he gets you offensively with bad defending. He can run your PP but he spams shots in an era where teams have really moved away from running power plays through the point. He's more fine on the Habs because he's still doing things none of their other D can do (his relative xG numbers are fairly impressive), but for a team who already has weapons, he's an awkward fit. I would take Back and a 1st in a heartbeat for him (assuming no one else offers more)

ya 100% feel like a lot of his faults gets overlooked because habs are so starved for goals most nights that any production is celebrated. I think Matheson would be more attractive than Hanifin to teams lookng to set themselves up for multiple runs instead of just grabbing a rental. That being said i think its only wishful thinking, i dont think Matheson will be getting move any time soon unless theres an offer mtl cant turn down.

This is probably the most objective feedback I've seen an opposing fan give another team player. Well done.
