There's no scenario where Nashville takes a deal like that. 1st will be late, Korpisalo is ass no matter how much you retain, I like Ostapchuk, but he's not a significant prospect. 2nds are nice, but they don't make a difference if the core of the deal is lacking substance. Imo for Ottawa to get Saros it'd have to be Norris or Chychrun.

Pinto would probably be where the interest is at... especially if they have to send us the Korps. We need a young centerman without a fat contract otherwise norris would be of interest.

reality, G are worth a fraction of the other positions. the position is too volatile and unpredictable to have the same value as center, wingers or Dman

Korpisalo has been complete junk so even retained i cant say id be excited to have him as part of the team. He just isnt making saves he should be. And honestly... he's only ever had 2 good seasons and hasnt started more than 40 games in a single season (though he may this year).

Sens won't move Pinto. The entire reason Norris could be available is how strong Pinto has been (and Greig too). Also I think the Norris "down year" talk is a little exaggerated. He's still got the shot, and he's gonna cruise to 25 goals in a down year. And in his defense, a HUGE reason he's not already way higher than 16 goals this year is Ottawa's terrible powerplay usage. He's spent half the year playing on his non shooting side, and the Sens are brutal at establishing a point shot, which means it's easy for PKs to take away one time options. With a better powerplay system he'd easily clear 30 this year in my opinion

Generally I agree, but there are 5-10 goalies that consistently put up excellent numbers. Saros has been (up to this year) a perennial vezina candidate ; Norris is on a massive ticket, having a mid year & coming off a terrible injury - limited value. Chycrun is top 4 dman but LHD (unfortunately) & FA year after next - upper mid value. Neither is worth Saros

Norris and chych both alone have more value than saros. dont mater how many vezinas he wins or how many times he was top 5 in voting, in the last 37 years the vezina winner has won the cup a total of 6 times, the last being Thomas and the bruins in 2011.

no team should trade top 6 players or top line Dman for a G.. unless they want to screw their team

saros would not change the fate of the sens this year much more than korpi and forsberg considering he is barely playing better than them this year on a better team.

Way too late for this year, agreed. That Ship has sailed & sunk. Going nowhere next year without major changes and goaltending is place I’d start 🤷🏻

wait and see what happens when the team learns to actually play defense and with a defensive structure. theres still 27 games left to the season, see how the teams play and how th G perform then evaluate.

overpaying top quality asset on a maybe is a dumb way to run a team and a am good way to cripple one for years.

I agree with this, which is why I tried to make the trade without using any of the actually good players on the team. Frankly I can't figure out why people are so eager to trade Norris. He's young, on a long-term deal, and is recovering from injury.

I think the sens need an upgrade at goalie, but I think throwing away the great organizational depth they have in their top 9 forward group to get it done would be a mistake. I'm convinced that keeping guys like Pinto and Greig on bridge contracts will be crucial for long-term success. I'd maybe move Chychrun to clear up the awkward construction of the D corps, but then you gotta find a RHD replacement for him that doesn't cost more than like 6 mil a year.
