Preds would 100% decline this. They could just keep Saros and still have a top goalie in the league. Payment is way too low

Saros isn’t a “top goalie in the league” anymore
But yes, they could certainly decline this & keep him
In fact, that’s what USUALLY happens bc goalies basically never get the kinds of returns they “deserve”

Despite having a down year Saros is still a top 6 goalie. He gets a lot more than a 2nd and a 4th liner

    Its a bad take man.

Saros is still on the right side of 30 and still relatively young for a Nhl starting goalie. He has a lot of good hockey left in him and he will fetch at least a 1st and a top prospect because everyone will want him. Hell I would be fine with the Capitals giving up a first and a solid prospect for him

i shouldnt say no value tbf, but certainly not enough value to be the most valuable piece in a Saros trade imo

Saros is NOT a top6 goalie
He’s showing signs of decline with his inconsistency & overall poor numbers (for him)
And this is after having a “down season” (again, for him) last year

    And MOST IMPORTANTLY…..
goalies simply DO NOT get huge trade returns
    It just doesn’t happen

    Saros is a declining asset
1- goalies don’t get huge returns to begin with
2- had a down season last year
3- having a bad season this year
4- 1 year left under contract before he demands another big one, which no team *should give him

It would be a mistake for the Caps or Sabres or Leafs or whoever to give up a haul for Saros

To be fair, this is saros we are talking about, not Gibson. Saros has consistently been a top goalie in the league, but he is having an off season, plus his contract status doesnt sweeten the pot here. Krebs and a 2nd is light, you would have to bump Krebs up to one of our recent firsts (not named benson). Unfortunately the Sabres first round picks are all top 10 until ownership gets their stuff together, and I'm not moving a top 10 pick for any goalie. Hard stop.

Poor numbers for him are league average. He has a new coach and a bad defensive team in front of him. Watch any Preds game and you'll see him getting hung out to dry. I don't think I'd call last year a down season when he was in the conversation for the Vezina and barely missed on being top 3 in the voting. And led the league in Goals Saved above Expected

And just because historically something has never happened doesn't mean it never will. That's a poor argument

Juuse Saros is a top 6 goalie in the league ask any expert or GM.

Darcy Kuemper, Frederick Andersen, Martin Jones, Ryan Miller, Cory Schneider, and Robin Lehner all returned at least a 1st in the last 10 years. Of those the only one who may have more value than Saros currently does is Schneider.

And even though Saros isn’t having the best year this year (he still has a 6.3 GSAx), he was incredibly elite last season (45.49 GSAx and 29.4 GSAA)

And “league average” numbers, are HORRIBLE for Saros,
    or any “top6” goalie
He’s declining & no longer one of the best goalies in the league

Can he bounce back & be very good again?
    Sure!

But RIGHT NOW, he simply is not

He was “good” not “great” which is a “drop” for him
And now this year, he’s putting up “league average” numbers
    That’s ANOTHER “drop” in performance

    Saros isn't being traded.

Nashville wants to charge like he's a top 3 goalie in the league.

He's been a bottom 5 goalie this year. No team is paying that price when they don't know what they are getting.

I could argue with a wall for Juuse Saros because he already doesn't get enough respect for dragging the Predators dying corpse around most days. He's a top 6 goalie in the league even now. One bad season doesn't always indicate a goalie decline. It certainly doesn't drop them out of being one of the best goalies in the league when he's still in his prime playing behind a dogwater defensive team, one season removed from being the leader in a number of advanced stats including quality starts, steals, and GSAx.

But I should've known arguing with you would be pointless because your username is literally antianalytics. If you don't think he's a top goalie that's fine, but you're wrong. You don't think he's worth a trade haul that's fine.

Juice is stud and any team would be lucky to have him backstopping them, especially a bottom feeder team that hasn't sniffed the playoffs in a decade

This is the point I’m making !

I don’t think Saros SHOULD be traded
I also don’t think anyone will (or should) give up the farm for him

Well that’s an emotional “homer” take if I’ve ever heard one
No one- NO ONE- is gonna give up the farm for a goalie,
let alone one having a down season
    Not happening, sorry

Saros last year was 4th in Vezina voting, 8th in SV% among goalies with 25+ games played, 5th in GSAA, and had the 2nd highest single season GSAx of any goalie over the last 6 seasons. He was elite last season

I understand what you're saying but he's been a top 5 goalie like 4 years in a row before this year and is on a fantastic contract. Definately a lot more likely he bounces back then just randomly falls off a cliff at 28
