I’m a diehard Sens fan and think a 2nd round pick straight up is just fine for Tarasenko. Any Sens fan who thinks he’s worth a top prospect or a first rounder is not being realistic. And BTW I love Tarasenko and would be happy to see him re-sign here in the off-season.

Agreed. Still think a team with no other options would pay a first but we already did that last year and didn’t like the return on our investment. Tank is a good player but he’s definitely not the player he once was. If Ottawa can re-sign it’d be a better move than shipping him for less than a decent return like you mention. Makes the Sens job easier to ice a competitive team next year.

Berard is definitely on the table but why not use assets to pursue someone like Buchnevich or Vatrano. Young and cost-controlled. I’m also not too much in favor of dealing Othmann, Cuylle, Perreault, or any first rounders but at this stage the team needs to do something.

Which forwards available are better than Tarasenko though? Not many. He's been so good in Ottawa and apparently likes it here... I'd easily give him a 3x5

Not true. We will have 1.5-2.4M accrued cap savings at the deadline. So we send some 4th liner down to AHL and we have the space for Tank @ 50%.

I also suspect Ceci gets moved out for one of Carrier or Walker which would save another 1.5M-2M
