All bad trades for Calgary... Chychrun would be very interesting if he came with an extension but that won't be possible until next year. A 1st and a 2nd is a bit too much to trade for 1 year of him when Calgary won't be contending.



Nobody will be giving you a lottery pick for 1 year of Chychrun. Besides what Ottawa should do is move Chabot and extend Chychrun this summer... If Chychrun will extend with them.

No...but Greaves might be. And we could sign any number of NHL UFA goalies (Samsonov, Driedger, DeSmith, Brossoit, Nedeljkovic, Stolarz, Talbot, Jones, Rittich, etc.) with the $3.2M in savings. Only Samsonov and Dridger make more than $3.2M right now. Or we get creative and flip Vladar elsewhere with retention since he'd be a UFA at the end of next season.

The flexibility alone would be enough, considering Elvis is right around league average. Of the ones I listed: Rittich (+10.5), Stolarz (+8.1), Jones (+7.8), Nedeljkovic (+5.6), Brossoit (+3.7), and Talbot (+3.0) are all actually better than Elvis (+1.8) in GSAx this season. If we really truly need a better starter than Vladar for one season, there's no less than 6 available for free on July 1st at the moment. Throw in the 2nd and it's a no-brainer.

Don't be obtuse. Calgary wouldn't have any interest in 1 year of Chychrun unless he came quite cheap... There's no chance they'd trade a lottery 1st for that nor would any other team. Howver as I very clearly stated they'd be very interested in him next year if he comes with an extension.
