In terms of Celebrini and Bedard, I think we are talking a low lottery pick (16-11), and an A- prospect for Bedard (In real life, CHI obviously keeps their guy). But in vacuum value, that is what we are talking.

A better way to gage, where does Celebrini go in last years draft?

I would have him just over or under Fantilli (but note I had Fantilli 2). Noting Carlsson went 2, might as well say Celebrini goes 2

Please clarify exactly what you are saying. Either way I can almost guarantee your valuation is wrong, even in a vacuum.

Can’t lie, I thought we were going to take Fantilli too

I didn’t even look at Leo at all because of it and was like huh when we took him but then I went and started looking into him and I figured out why he went there and I am so happy about the pick. Guy is a horse

That’s making me look into a lot more guys this year and not just finding ‘my guy’ for whatever spot we’re drafting

Not even close IMO. Bedard has been hyped for so long, Broken so many records internationally, Has shown the potential that he could one day be the best player in the world.

I think Celebrini goes 2nd overall in last years draft. But I'm sure there are others who disagree. That still doesn't tell us what his value is, though.

Here is a decent article about the value of draft picks. The Value of a Draft Pick

I thought maybe Celebrini would go behind Fantilli and Carlson, since teams value the”big center” aspect that those 2 players bring (over Celebrini).

I had Fantilli and Carlsson neck and neck. But I also had Michkov ahead of both.

I kinda wrote him off with the Russian contract going on for multiple years

So, what exactly are you asking @Habitantlecolon, a general value or what it would take to actually buy the pick?

Absolutely understandable. Based on pure talent and potential, though, Michkov is or was likely ranked above both of them by a lot of people. If he would've been in North America, he likely would've gone 2nd OA.

Trading up for #1 overall would cost a ton. Celebrini isn't at Bedard's level, but he's still a tremendous talent. Same level as Fantilli, Carlsson and Michkov a year ago. I'd say the Montreal and Winnipeg '24 1st rounders and at least one high end prospect that Montreal hates giving up at a minimum.

Both.

Well, the general value is in that article I posted. But it certainly varies year to year and player to player.

If CHI wins the 1st overall pick again, they would want an absolute haul being offered to even consider moving it. Probably, something in the realm of four 1st round picks, at least one of which would have to also be top 5. I can't speak for other teams, but I'm sure it's something similar.

I can almost guarantee you that if Cayden Lindstrom is available, Verbeek will pick him. 6'4" Power forward who skates well and has skill - That's a Verbeek type a player.

I feel like Demidov has a VERY good chance of making teams wish they picked him, but Lindstrom is so damn good that you can't get too upset. I think he tops my list after Celebrini, as well.

I don't want it from an MTL perspective but rather in absolute picks players value. I'm trying to understand why a proposal I made yesterday was bashed, McTavish 1vs1 for Celebrini is ridiculous to me.

Here are the tiers according to Pronman in this year's draft:

Tier 1: #1 Overall, Elite
Tier 2: #2 - #5 Overall, All-Star
Tier 3: #6 - #9 Overall, Bubble All Star / Top of Lineup
Tier 4: #10 - #13 Overall, Top of Lineup
Tier 5: #14 - #17 Overall, Bubble Top / Middle of Lineup

After that I think you are losing any relevance to Celebrini in a trade other than sweetener value.

For comparisons to last year's draft, Celebrini would be in the 2/3/4 range while someone like Slafkovsky for reference would have been in the 6/7/8/9/10 range.

Just looked at it. McTavish and the 4th overall pick seems a bit light, to me. I think it takes more. But I guess that depends how MTL and ANA value all the players involved.

Sorry. Not sure I follow what your asking? Are you asking how NHL draft picks are valued? There are all sorts of charts for that. I can send a link if you want. As for players who've already been drafted, that's a lot more arbitrary. Personally, I would not even consider trading #1 overall straight up for McTavish if that was your idea.

I already sent one of the draft pick value studies. Their proposal from yesterday was McTavish + the 4th overall pick for the 1st overall pick.
