Overpayment or not that’s the market. Monahan was a gross overpay too. Teams will make those deals overpay or not if they think those are moves that increases the chances of winning a cup. That’s how the deadline works. We see overpays like this every year.

If teams didn’t want to pay a 1st for Henrique; they should’ve attempted to acquire him earlier before Lindholm and Monahan set the market price

Colorado 100% would. They desperately need a 2C and there’s very few if any centers on the market now. Anaheim has a lot of leverage now that Monahan and Lindholm were dealt.

I just don't get the desperateness of the Avs when it comes to the 2C... Ross Colton has produced fine enough to be a 2C and that doesn't feel like the biggest hole on the Avs. I feel like their bigger problem is the Bottom 6 and the fact that almost all of them are struggling to produce points

Colorado probably won't. Not gonna guarantee that but I would be really surprised. Also, even at 50% retained, Rico makes more than Monahan. I'm not sure where the line is, but at some point it starts complicating things with at least some teams.

All that said, I think you're right that the Ducks will get a first, but I wouldn't write one in pen quite yet.

It's not, but that's what Peg just did, so I get why Ducks fans think one is coming their way.

But yeah, Colorado likes their firsts. The only time they have moved one in recent memory is for Kuemper, and they were up the creek without a paddle and had little choice. I don't think they'll be the ones to do it here, but who knows.

I absolutely hate to say it but Boone Jenner would be the best guy for Carolina to go for. He would fit that team so well.
Would cost alot though and I hope Jenner never gets traded but eh, it happens

I would love to see Boone Jenner to wear red and black... he would be a great fit at 2C and would be a great role model for the young guys who are about to break into the NHL level

Again I hate to say it, but man, he would be PERFECT for Carolina...and IF he had to go somewhere I would be less mad about it if it was there.

RBA would absolutely love Boone... he plays the way that Rod demands of his players plus you can play him in all situations
