Allen and Savard are much closer to cap dumps than players who return 1st round picks at full salary

Savard won't get a 1st (this year anyway, next year we'll have to see, too early to tell).
Allen's value has been severely overestimated already but you've somehow gone beyond that.

Jersey trade is atrocious. They may be able to use Harris but Pearson and Primeau don't really do anything for them.
They aren't paying a 1st to dump Vanecek and get Harris.

Monahan to NYR I still like, but people keep suggesting NY won't trade with Montreal.
I'll give you a pass on that one because it is plausible if professionalism trumps petulence.

How is a young LHD with solid numbers that was picked in the 3rd round still only worth a 3rd rounder? How is a goalie that was picked in the 7th round with half decent backup numbers, still only worth a 7th? How is one of the worst goalies in the league with 2 years left at 3.4m only a 3rd to dump?

You dont actually watch the sport.

Savard has been worse than Tyler Myers for the last 3.5 years. At 3.5M for next season I wouldn’t take him unless I was getting compensation for doing so……..

Only Monahan will get you a first from these deals you’re overrating every other player. Savard might be a cap dump rn

Vanecek at least has put up somewhat decent numbers in the past. Goalies are mostly voodoo apart from the top guys, he could easily bounce back

Primeau has been a bad backup ever since breaking into the league. He’s an AHL caliber goalie, genuinely one of the worst in the league

Bc with Guhle Matheson Xhekaj who you’re convinced is good, Struble, Hutson, Barron, Reinbacher, Savard, Kovacevic, he’s at risk of becoming waiver fodder since he isn’t exempt. Similar situation to Siegenthaler. Also he’s an undersized dman which tanks his value.

Primeau, again waiver fodder.

Vanacek can start 50 games a season and is 1 year removed from being a quality starter at 28 years old. Someone will likely take a flier on him as a dump for a 3rd round pick, if not we hold this year and wait till the offseason.

Savard tops out at 2 2nds (although you may get someone to bite on him for a 1st if you retain 50%)

Monahan is the only one on the list that returns a late 1st without retention, probably not from the Rags though.

Since we are on the topic of stupid trade proposals, how about the Canes send you a 5th round pick, TDA, and a box of Bo-Berry biscuits for Caufield?

This is a decent reply.
I just realized that the Devils first round pick is looking to be too high for what I proposed, I definitely agree. Was thinking more of a late first rounder.
4th or maybe even 5th for Pearson at full salary, not with salary retention. Most teams will have LTIR space at the deadline, so who knows.
2nd or 3rd for Harris, I agree.
I wouldn’t move Primeau for less than a 3rd, but I’d keep him at that point.
And a 2nd or 3rd to dump Vanacek.

So on the low end of that, would be 3 thirds and a 5th. But I’d argue for a 2nd, two 3rds, and a 4th.

It's very difficult to turn a bunch of dimes into a dollar.

Primeau is very much waiver fodder I can't see him going for anything of meaning.
Harris if you can find a buyer who really likes him sure, but again no waiver eligibility and being pushed out of a spot limits value. Even now you have Justin Barron in the minors because Harris isn't exempt. Similar to siegenthaler trade imo.
I can't see many teams wanting to use 3 mill of cap space on Pearson.

Vanacek is a dump but imo with only 2 years at 3.4 mill he's close enough from when he was a quality starter that a team will be willing to take a flier on him alongside just a 3rd
