Too much, too little, not interested? Obviously the player is unhappy with his situation, but that doesn’t mean a trade will happen. Just spitballing seeing as Chicago will have interest in his brother with their 2nd first rounder.

Not close. Ask yourself what it would take to give up Korchinski and then add to that

I think there’s a big difference in where CBJ sees themselves in their rebuild. Chicago wouldn’t trade Korch because there is no motivation to do so. Would you elaborate on where you see the CBJ at?

They’re at most a year ahead. Come on, man. Don’t be obtuse. Jiricek is the cornerstone defensive prospect for the Jackets in the same way Korchinski is for the Hawks. Would you accept the same pile of meh for your cornerstone defensive prospect? No, of course you wouldn’t.

Sorry but that's not close for a prospect like Jiricek.

A year? CBJ is up against the cap with multiple superstars on their roster, along with a bunch of decent veterans, and a bunch of pretty good young players... On paper and considering their timeline, CBJ is/should be WAYYY ahead of CHI by at least 3 years. Why they aren't winning games is a different question entirely.

They started the rebuild at the same time: 2021. Johnny Gaudreau having some kind of brain attack one summer doesn't mean both teams aren't in the same boat together; it just means they bought their tickets in different ways. The Jones trade just shaved an extra year off the timeline for Columbus by giving them Sillinger and Jiricek and saved them from a full down-to-the-studs style rebuild like Chicago is doing. That's all.

Poor roster construction, turbulence in coaching all year, shuttling prospects back and forth between the AHL and NHL and not having them play significant minutes at either location, being the 2nd-youngest team in the league, injuries to almost every key player, and the obvious: blowing 3rd-period leads like we're the 2022 Canucks. The only real mystery is why management hasn't been canned yet.

Honestly, if the prospects keep developing like they have this year, management trades some of the obvious problem pieces (Provorov, Peeke, Roslovic, Tarasov, etc), and coaching gets some consistency, this team realistically competes for a playoff spot next season. I can't find any stats on the number of blown leads this year, but if we'd held even half of the 3rd-period leads in games we eventually lost, we'd be taking wild card instead of Celebrini this year.

Regardless, yeah, Jiricek isn't someone you trade in any scenario. He should be unhappy about playing time, he has every right to be. That doesn't mean he's going to request a trade.

I saw on reddit that it was 15 so far, but I'm not sure if that includes last night or not. Either way, it's probably 10-12 points that they should have, and that would put them pretty much exactly on track for what I predicted for this season (80 points). There are glimpses of the future good team, but I don't think they're a year away. Something new and hilarious will go wrong and cause another spectacular setback.

All that to say: I bet Chicago wins a playoff game before Columbus does.

I agree. He isn't someone you treat the way they are treating him, and he is correct to be upset. And yes, I don't know why Jarmo and his entire staff all the way down to the coaches are still there.

This isn't close for Jiricek, the Jackets should be doing what it takes to keep him and their other players happy, canning their coach who should be in the AHL would be a good start.
