Point is moot, Oilers can’t afford to take on another 1.5 in cap.

another cheap hit, why does the guy play the big mouth for clean hockey, and then ... I'm done with Gally!

He hasn't had many "cheap" hits in his career, yes this was a headshot but how many suspensions has he even received over his 10+ years? The answer is... this will be his first ever suspension and he was only ever fined once for punching Goodrow back in 2021. If you are done with a player after a single fine and a single suspension in 12 years in the league I hope to God Caufield and Suzuki never get in trouble. Yes it was a bad decision to finish his check there and it nearly cost the Habs the game but I think you are just looking for any excuse to dump on Gallagher.

this is your perception. Gally failed hard tonight. His big mouth is now behind him. If it wasn't about the talk around in the last decade I wouldn't even bat an eye, but tonight he did cross the line that he drew before ... so yeah he's gone for me. It's not an excuse, it's a reaction to the player's play. Anyway, I'm starting to look less delusional than you here and I'm not ready to leave my Homer crown to someone else on the Habs fan base!

Honestly, the Oilers say no. Habs would have to add. Gallagher has been declining since before the miracle cup run. I don’t want to make the Campbell bad cap hit worse, besides Campbell has been playing better now and I could see him coming back up.

Gallagher has done pretty well at not targeting players, especially considering how tough defensemen have been on him around the crease.
He's had plenty of reason to retaliate in a way that would cause an injury.
There's no way he suddenly decided he was going to do it to this specific player in this specific game, which was ultimately meaningless.

It was dirty beyond a doubt, but more in a reckless way than purposeful.
A short player misjudged the location of a tall player's head, while using upward thrust leading with the elbow to compensate for the size and strength disadvantage in order to make an impactful hit.
I am still disappointed in him for delivering it, but I'm not going to hold it against him beyond expecting appropriate punishment, as long as it doesn't become a habit.

A strong reaction is warranted, but it's being amplified for reasons which have nothing to do with the hit.
If he were a more valuable/productive player "fans" wouldn't be so quick to lambast him for his first serious incident in 12 years.
Nobody was trying to run Slafkovsky out of town for boarding Luff.

the hit is not in my mind here ... but the last decade of big mouth yapping about clean hockey games... A + B = C thus why I'm being this harsh against him here tonight. I'm done with two-face players. Either he moves and accepts to fight or he stops being a jerk on ice. I was laughing at Stuzle complaining about him, but now I'm starting to side with him.

The become a Sens fan! You are being ridiculous, one serious incident in 12 years of hockey even while being a advocate for clean hockey, doesn't make him a two-faced player, it just means he had a momentary laps in judgement. He didn't skate across the ice a specifically target the guys head and he doesn't do it on a regular basis. I would hate to be part of your family if a momentary lapse in judgement causes you this much recourse, seriously man this is ridiculous!

tha fudge you say, you protect the guy who for the last freaking decade talking hardly against this kind of hockey, and now that he's done need to go that way to make a living? We all know that yesterday Gally crossed a line that he drew. Ain't going to be a Sens fan but sure can say that now I won't defend Gally. It wasn't a lapse, he targeted the player it was wide-open ice and he could just play the puck there was no one 4 feet around.

Worse even. $1.5M annually worse. And I have a lot more hope that Campbell can resurrect his career than Gallagher.

It's fair to criticize, harshly even, but shipping him out of town is an overreaction.
Being a pest has always been part of his game but he's never been a bully.
He's not a repeat offender or embarassment to the organization. It's a one time thing.
If you're going to hold someone accountable you have to allow them the opportunity to accept that accountability.

I'm not shipping him (ain't got any control over that) but I use CF to complain hard about him tho! He was also advocating for clean hockey and is pretty always the first to talk about this kind of situation when asked ...

Now you are delusional. Campbell is platine in the AHL. Gallagher even if his production has declined, he is a Heart and Soul player....he gives himself 100% in all games and is an excellent veteran. I will reduce my my request. Gallagher for Campbell and a first choice in the draft....but deep down, I wouldn't do it because Campbell only has a very negative value.
