Montreal can't really afford to move Savard. They need him as a stabilizing veteran on the back end, especially as a RHD.
The "absurdity" of a trade value for him should reflect that.
A middling prospect and/or pick package isn't worth enough to sidetrack development and development gets tougher for everyone without Savard in the lineup.
Montreal probably only listens if an offer starts with a 1st+.
Doesn't mean Savard is worth that much, it just means he's worth more to Montreal than to 'X' team if they aren't willing to put that offer forward.
This offer is heavy and might work, but only the 1st is of any real consequence. Montreal would immediately be in the market for another veteran RHD and that switch may not be worth the price they would have to pay or the hassle.
There's relative value at play here, not just market value.
