In spite of the value in Kuemper retained here I think Boston declines. They have Bussi for even cheaper and Milano and a 2nd doesn't do it

I would disagree, i think they'll need to give up a first if they want to get rid of the huberdeau contract

Value wise, fair offer. Sense wise, none. Brings nothing they need while downgrading in net. Boston declines.

Boston declines pretty quickly... no need for Kuemper and Milano + 2026 2nd won't get it done for Ullmark.

Idk, i think this deal would be too good for boston to deny. Its a fact that boston's going to trade one of their goaltenders at some point and currently swayman is doing far better than ulmark with the same amount of games played. I think getting kuemper with almost half of his contract retained and a good depth player in milano as well as a second will be more than enough.

i think it's a very fair offer. boston's getting kuemper, a good starting goaltender and stanley cup champ for only 3 mil as well as a good depth player to pad out their bottom six and a 2nd round pick. It's only a matter of time before one of bostons goaltenders get traded and current swayman's doing better than ullmark.

Gotta agree. I dont see Nashville keeping Oshie or Edmundson long term in this trade so it is hoping that whatever we get out of a mid round 2024 1st eventually is better than what we have in a young Evangelista. Unless management has soured on Evangelista, no reason theyd do this. Producing at a 40ish point pace as a 21 year old and looks hungry out there for the puck.

I don't mind the idea of the Columbus trade from our perspective. The 4th gets the retention, NAK I assume is a cap move/contract slot? He and the 7th are probably close to offsetting. Provorov for Sandin and a 2nd is close IMO, though I'd like to see an early 2nd this year rather than a late 2nd next. That might be nitpicking though, I think the basis of the deal makes some sense for both teams. Provorov probably isn't a long-term solution, where Sandin could be while also providing NHL-level defense now.

The value for Kuemper is good but they can pay less than half his remaining salary with Bussi, who they appear high on atm. They have tons of players that can fill in bottom six roles like Milano (I'd much prefer Heinen there at a similar rate) so essentially the only thing they're getting of actual value is a 2nd. That isn't an offer they can't refuse. They don't have to trade a goalie this Summer, or at all for that matter. They have 28 mil in cap this offseason with sways extension taking up 3 mil of that. They could just let Ullmark walk next offseason if the best they're getting is a 2nd and parts they don't need. Take his 5 million and spend elsewhere

I would disagree, we come out of all these trades as a much better and deeper team, younger as well. The only thing that's "shooting us in the foot" is how much draft capital i gave up, which was justified by picking up younger and better pieces.

I said, fair from a value standpoint. Zero interest. Fair value. 💩 move.

They are not trading Ullmark in season for downgrade in net, 3rd liner, and meh futures. Its stupid.

Only way they move Ullmark in season is a lopsided trade in their favor for a long term NHL asset that plays in the top half of the roster and fills a need.

Otherwise they wait til offseason. They can get meh futures and mid roster talent anytime.

I guess the only two I really don't like is giving up Sandin plus assets for Provorov and Bringing in Huby's terrible contract. Also I think LA laughs as Byfield is finally breakingout and it isn't enough to let him go

I agree that they should trade him, me saying they could let him walk is definitely dumb, I shouldn't exaggerate like that, I just haven't seen many people thinking he'll get the value he should as a Vezina winner "because he plays in front of Boston's D". TBH I hope they try to convince them both to retain the tandem and pay their goalies around 12-14 mil combined with the cap going up, but they probably each still want to get the starters share of games and that would be bad cap management

when i brought in hubys contract i had like 11 mil in cap space and came out of the trade with 5 mil. His contract is terrible but hes still got lots of potential to get back to that elite level he used to be at.

To address the provorov trade, it's a W trade. Idk how you don't like it. We get a really good defenseman with 17 points this season with 1.1 mil retained at the cost of sandin who has 6 points and a 0+/-.

The LA trade is a W trade as well. We get a great up and coming rookie and they get kuzy with 2.3 retained and 2 first round picks. The trade makes much more sense when you think about it a bit more.

Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly.

Los Angeles wouldn't want to trade the ever-brightening future of Quint Byfield for one season plus of Kuznetsov at $5.5 million even if the Kings could afford the cap hit, which they can't. And the chance that either of those two draft picks turns into a top-6 forward to come close to replacing Byfield or the Kings' next starting goaltender is pretty low.
