Very unrealistic offseason... Buch trade is not close. Necas and Jarvis both signing at $6.5 for 8 years? No shot.

Lindholm hasn't been good this year... really doubt he gets long-term offers. I would be willing to go to $6.5M AAV for 3 years for him but outside of that would rather roll with Coyle, Zacha, and Poitras/Geekie

1. I do believe they are playing Shattenkirk on his offside, so they can access him on the powerplay
2. Beecher has been an offensive black hole. I’d include him in the JVR/Lauko/Maroon discussion.
I tend to believe that Montgomery will go more with the vets vs the young players. That said, I do think they might need one defensive line which makes the JVR/Maroon decision more of a question</div></div>
Beecher has been better recently and has better offensive production this season than Lauko. He was coming into his own on the 4th line with Boqvist. I wouldn't break that up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Yes, that was my conclusion . . . it's actually possible to re-sign Reinhart, Montour and Lundell if Spencer Knight is traded away.
Personally, I'd much rather lose Knight than any of the other three because at least Florida has a proven goalie ahead of Knight, whereas they have no one anywhere close to replacing Reinhart, Montour or Lundell.</div></div>
100% but Florida likely has to give up assets to get rid of Knight... can't see any teams wanting to take on a goalie with a $4.5M cap hit who hasn't played in the NHL in almost two years and has been meh in the AHL this year.
Their future draft pick pool is almost as barren as the Bruins

I can't see a way the Panthers re-sign both Montour and Reinhart without trading (basically giving away/sending assets... who wants that contract) Spencer Knight.
I wonder if Ekblad or Verhaeghe are available this offseason to free up space to retain Reinhart and Montour. Not sure they can afford both Reinhart and Verhaeghe in the future.

Burns also will be 40 next summer and orlov 34. They might not be the guys they are today by then.
Having one pesce and skjei back atleast helps stabalize that situation.</div></div>
This... thats why I think its unlikely Guentzel, Jarvis, and Necas are all back next year. My guess is its two of the three.

100% if you give Turbo that contract, you're better off keeping Debrusk.
Ideally, Heinen plays somewhere on the third line with Geekie and Freddy. I am hoping Poitras can add some size and take a big stride in his development to play with Pasta and Zacha.
Definitely need to add another vet LHD.

Agreed - I don't think a Peeke/Bahl combo would play to either of their strengths. Much rather target Holtz or Casey in an Ullmark deal.
<a href="/users/jastone" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@jastone</a> Freddy and Geekie's next deals are probably in the $4-5.5M AAV territory and cap is expected to continue to go up. I agree with the notion of being somewhat frugal, but I think we can afford to add another $4-5M vet on either LHD or to the middle 6

Peeke has looked good (surprised he got scratched as much with the size/talent level he’s displaying), but I can see some Wotherspoon/Shattenkirk options as well.
I want no part of those black aces playing. Just think they’d benefit from seeing what it takes to prepare</div></div>
Peeke has looked very good to his start with the Bruins - Shattenkirk with a 3 point game last night. I could also see that being a match-up dependent situation.
With Lauko's recent downward trend in play and JVR banged up, I am surprised the Bs haven't given either Lysell or Merk some looks next to Geekie and Freddy.

If I was Monty, my playoff lineup would be
Heinen - Zacha - Pasta
Marchand - Coyle - Debrusk
JVR - Geekie - Freddy
Boqvist - Beecher - Maroon/Brazeau
Lauko, Richard, Lysell, Merk as depth for forwards (Lauko/Richard for bottom 6 roles and Lysell and Merk if they need to fill top 6). Don't think its ideal for Lysell/Merk to get their first looks in the NHL during the playoffs though.
Lohrei/Grz - McAvoy
Lindholm - Carlo
Wotherspoon - Peeke
Shattenkirk and either Grz/Lohrei being the depth pieces for D. I'd give the nod to Lohrei today, but understand they prob go with Grz to start for the vet experience.

Agree on Heinen
Still disagree on Grz... I don't think many teams are lining up to sign an undersized 30+ defenseman whose play has fallen off quite a bit in the last year. According to the Athletic's advanced analytics player cards, Grz's value is $1.2M AAV... if he wiling to accept a $2M AAV contract for the next two years I think the Bruins would be willing to bring him back and see if he can beat out Lohrei/Wotherspoon and regain some of his previous form. I just think there are better options out there than paying $3.5M for Grz.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I doubt Beecher has that type of offensive ceiling, which is fine. You need a fourth line center, but he’s not nearly aggressive enough offensively to remotely put him in the same category as McLeod as a talent.
I’m not sure where Lysell lands. To me, he’s a more skilled version of Victor Arvidssen. Top 6 talent is obvious watching him as long as he continues to let his teammates create for him and plays within a team structure. Excited to see what he can do</div></div>
There is also a four year gap in terms of their development... looking at their stats and metrics from this season:
Beecher
41 Games 6 goals 2 Assists 8 Points -5
1.12 Pts per 60
54.6% Faceoff
31% Defensive Zone Start
33% Corsi
McLeod
45 Games 10 goals 9 assists 19 points +6
1.67 Pts per 60
65% Faceoff
23% Defensive Zone Start
49% Corsi
Beecher is off to a pretty good start - especially when you compare to McLeod's start to his career (20 points in his first 85 games with a -16, about 52% FO win, and no goals in his first 30+ games). McLeod's best season was 26 points in 80 games last year, so I think you are overrating McLeod's offensive abilities. Statistically speaking, Beecher's first 40 games are better by pretty much every metric than McLeod's first 40 games. Beecher should be capable of matching this production by his 3rd or 4th pro season - I view him long-term as good 3C/excellent 4C who can be dominant on the forecheck and put up 30-40 points depending on the talent he is playing with. He is a poor man's Charlie Coyle, but better at FOs.
Lysell has a bright future - a little surprised he has not gotten a call up yet based on his play the last three months. Obvious top 6 talent who should make the team out of camp next year... a more skilled Arvidssen is a good comp IMO. Arvidssen had back to back 60 point seasons in Nashville - Lysell should be able to hit the 60 point mark consistently if he can reach his potential and stay healthy.

Hoping they sign Collin Graf. They can likely sell a great opportunity for him</div></div>
I agree with you here: I believe all three are better than they are given credit for and will all have long NHL careers. IMO Lysell has the highest potential of them all... kid can be a gamebreaker, Poitras probably has the lowest floor... he is already showing the ability to play in the NHL at 19 with excellent vision and hockey IQ he just needs to put on some size, and Lohrei has developed a lot this year is showing flashes of being a dynamic offensive D.
I disagree with your take of Beecher though IMO he should have already locked up the 4C job. He is excellent on faceoffs and has great defensive awareness. He has shown offensive potential but has not produced consistently in that phase of the game yet. He is already a good 4C and is still only 22 in his second full pro season. IMO his ceiling is as a 3C and a similar player to Michael McLeod.

Yeah no chance Boston makes that move... if Ottawa is selling Norris its going to be at a low value.
Now if you want to use that price as talks for Tkachuk or Stuzle, that would be a different story
