If Anderson could turn this around I love this for the Oilers

Détails additionnels:
The term is the same on both of them. Anderson does make a little bit more tho and Habs are already in a rebuild while Oilers are in a win now mode. I think a 3rd from Habs makes sense

You're deploying Anderson RW2, in what world would MTL be adding? Also, you're not getting Monty without extreme overpay. That is not extreme overpay.

I think 1 for 1 is super interesting for both teams honestly

I don't like it, I get that the consensus puts the value there but why do it? MTL isn't tight on cap now or going forward and Andy is still in the NHL. Personally I'd rather wait a couple years and worry about it then, I don't mind him on my team at all.

Habs laugh at that. Since Anderson is back, he will probably end up putting 20 goals this season again. A 20 goals scorer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a goalie who can’t even be good in the ahl

I'd rather keep Anderson.

I know they're trading Montembeault in this scenario, but they're already rolling three goalies. If you trade Montembeault and you bring back another goaltender you're not solving anything.

With Anderson, you get potential contributions and the possibility to shelter among 11 other forwards. With Campbell, you get zero contributions and you can't shelter a goalie.

He's shooting 4.3% right now in comparison to his career 11.5%. With 21 goals in 69 games and 19 goals in 69 games over the last two seasons, I'm more confident in a bounce-back than I am for Campbell,=.

Its not its absolute garbage for the habs.

You can hide a overpaid forward for a few years on your roster or in the minors as teams usualy have 25ish forwards signed.

You cant hide a goalie. Theres not enough rosyer spots to give one to a junk goalie.

A one-for-one trade of an AHL goaltender for a top 6 forward (on this roster you have created at least) seems ... unrealistic. Anderson is overpaid, but, in Montreal"s current situation its fine, we have abundant cap space, at least Anderson is a healthy body for us.

Yeah, Montreal isn't doing that.

Why? Montreal doesn't need a goaltender. The major reason they're shopping a goalie is that they're carrying 3.

Even Anderson at his very worst is still a big, physical winger with great speed. He still has NHL utility at his absolute worst. Campbell at his absolute worst does not have NHL utility. There's literally no reason for Montreal to consider a 1 for 1, or anything close to it really.

Edmonton has a reason to consider it. Montreal does not.
They don't need to move a contract (especially not if they are taking one back), they don't need a goaltender, they aren't contending.
Even if Anderson never scores another goal they have no impending cause to dump him. They'll overpay for an extra player with some usefulness until his contract expires or it becomes necessary to move him.
Everyone considering Anderson as a cap dump is ignoring the simple fact that Montreal does not need to dump cap. They are in good shape for at least a couple more years and have money coming off the books naturally during that time.
