That stats indicate something different...

You have to consider that Schmid is 23, signed for 850k and is still waiver exempt. Maybe Sammy is the better goalie, but neither guy is doing great this year. NJD would much rather keep their cap space and their young waiver exempt guy. Let alone the 3rd round pick as well.

You can have Vanacek for Sammy+ if you want.

Vanacek had more value 2 years ago when he was traded for assets and Samsonov didn't receive a QO. Vitek has been better this year while samsonov was better last year

What stats? Schmid's GAA of 3.29 is better than Samsonov's 3.58, and his save percentage of 0.891 is better than Samsonov's 0.878.

Past is prelude, not prediction.

His stats also got tanked by the Sharks game where he had no reason to be out there after making 50 saves the night before.

Calgary declines. Remove the Calgary 2nd and replace the 2 AHL players with either a 3rd or a half decent prospect for Tanev without retention. With retention bump it to a 2nd or a B prospect.
