Imagine thinking a 24 year old with three goals in the AHL is worth a 2nd round pick.

As much as I love Ilya Lyubushkin, I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM.

How many 2nd round picks dont play a single game in the NHL? So what do you pay for a guy who's projected to be a middle 6 forward?

No team in their right mind is trading a second for a 24 y/o in the AHL

Every NHL franchise has players like Abruzzese in the system. He holds zero trade value. At best he might one day become a viable middle six option, but that's unlikely at this point.

I think he's better than he gets credit for because he's not the prospect thats getting a PPG. But he's a smart (went to harvard), agile player who can PK and provide depth scoring. And probably has enough skill to keep up if you need to slot him into your top 6. Kerfoot gets paid 3.5m a year to do that. How old was he when he entered the NHL? He was 23

At most it costs us a 3rd with 50% ret. As he aint worth more than Schenn, Kulikov, Edmunson, etc.


And Abruzzese aint getting that return

He's worth a late pick, like a 5th or lower.



Doesn't matter how high the probability is of Abruzzesse making it into the NHL -not that it is high because he's projection as a bottom 6 guy at best. He would be the type of player that CGY might want as the warm body coming back in a bigger deal but he would little to no value in the actual deal.

Leafs might be in on bush but they won’t pay more then 2 3rds for him, and obviously Calgary declines lol
