<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StutzlesNumber1Fan</b></div><div>Pinto is one of our only forwards who actually play a complete 200 foot game. Coaches trust him defensively to play against the opposing teams best lines, and he's already been playing on the top line with Brady and Batherson. Norris being out sucks, but Pinto has propelled himself as our 2C of the future regardless if Norris is back or not. Outside of Timmy, Brady and Sanderson I'd pretty confidently say Pinto is our 4th most valuable player therefore being untouchable.</div></div>
Counter point would be you've got less than 12 mil next season and have 6 spots to fill, including a top 6 LW. Pinto might become a luxury that can't be afforded.
Or you could bail out from under Chychrun but then you've got another hole to fill, and a big part of Chychruns value was his team friendly deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>I mean we have been over this 100 times, Tippett has spent the last 2 years at LW where we are extremely thin so that won’t happen. And Foerster is simply untouchable. Verbeek gets that offer for Zegras that I put above he takes it and runs. There’s a handful of players better than Zegras in the NHL that didn’t even get that much back in a trade.</div></div>
No, he doesn't, and if that's your stance, there's no trade to be made. That's a crap offer for a top 6 player that we have <strong>NO REASON</strong> to move.
Eichel forced his way out of Buffalo and had an unknown surgery. Debrincat and Tkachuk refused to sign with their organizations and had very short lists where they were willing to sign long term with. All of these things depreciate value.
Zegras is under contract, not in a contract year, there's no leverage to depress his value. The reason the comps are low, is because the teams holding the contracts had no leverage, that's not the case in Anaheim. When the holding team has all the cards, these trades don't happen.
And I'll point out, if you're light at LW, just go sign someone, Left shot wingers are the easiest thing to find in this league.

Zebra to Flyers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>I know he was hurt, don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting he only played 30 odd games due to scratches!</div></div>
Half the games he played he was hurt, he had Osteitis Pubis from the pre season, the same injury that kept Logan Coulture off the ice basically all season. He was able to fully heal that while his broken ankle healed, that's why he looked like his normal self when he came back a few weeks ago, and was named to Team USA today.
Brink is of no interest to Anaheim, a potential flyers trade would have to focus around Foerster or Tippett.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>Well yeah I mean if he isn’t available then 75% of teams on here are useless lol. But it’s fair to think he could be available and frankly every player is available for a price. It’s been confirmed that Briere had talks with Anaheim and Ottawa for Zegras and Chychrun. Whether they told Danny to piss off of that they could talk in the summer who knows but they definitely had talks that’s been confirmed, and tbh if ur a GM not listening to potential offers ur not doing ur job.</div></div>
You've got too many RW, we need a RW, we've got too many centers, you need a center, don't overcomplicate things, build a trade based around Foerster or Tippett.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>I mean I would swap the 2025 Flyers 1st with 2024 1st but I frankly think the 2025 draft will be better and more talented lol I value that draft more imo.
I also have no ill will towards Anaheim or their fans (other than Cutter) so I say this unbiasedly that I don’t see how you get anymore than that for Zegras and if some Habs fan offered 4 1sts for him and u still don’t think that’s enough then idk what to tell you and I feel for you guys because if he is traded you’re all going to be massively upset when it’s less than that.
I hope you guys get a good haul for Zegras but I don’t see a team offering more than I do here.</div></div>
He was named to team USA today, Cronins exit interviews came out today, Zegras towed the line and did as he was instructed to, he received a glowing report from Cronin. And what is Anaheims biggest problem? Scoring goals. We scored 5 goals less than last year, despite Vatrano scoring 37 (15 more than last year) and we traded away Henrique who put up 18 prior to the TDL (22 all last year)
The fact that Zegras was missing or hurt for the vast majority of the year was obvious on the scoreboard, so why would we subtract that from our roster? He's not going anywhere.
We could give a sh*t if it's two of X or four of Y, there's no impact piece in the offer, just a bunch of lotto tickets that are best become middle 6 players or do nothing with their NHL careers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>I’m not even trying to be rude but ur talking about two 1st round picks that will be top 15 picks along with two 2nds that will be early. This is an overpay for Zegras, when he is traded it won’t even be for this much.
Also, again not to be offensive, but Anaheim sucks. They sucked this year, will suck next year, and will probably suck the year after. 4 picks inside the top 40 including 2 picks inside the top 15 absolutely will improve the team a few years down the road which is when this team will actually be good anyway. Ur not winning a Stanley cup in the next 5 years so “a pile of 2025 picks” absolutely helps them.</div></div>
Those picks aren't going to be inside the top 15, and you know that. Both the Flyers and the Sabers are on the verge of doing something, AND you'd have Zegras to help ensure that.
There's nothing compelling or even interesting with that offer. It's crap.

Man, all picks at least a draft away is super unappetizing, especially from teams who are on the brink of breakouts.
This is frankly worse than the "four firsts" earlier today from the Habs camp.

Sorokin at 8.25m X 8 years starting at age 29 is a contract no team wants. Better goalies can be had cheaper as UFA.</div></div>
I know Lou Lamarello won't still be in the chair to see the end of those contracts, but I question if he's even going to be alive to see the end of those contracts.

No one's going to be bidders on Z, he's not on the trading block and he just not named to team USA.
My point was, Casey isn't a sufficient upgrade on Luneau, a piece we already have and our GM is very high on, to downgrade from Zegras to Holtz. More of a "we have Seamus Casey at home" kind of thing.

The 2nd is both late and in the future, making it somewhat less appealing. The original idea for the pick swap and Strome suits our interests better.

I think Casey vs Luneau remains to be seen. Luneau looked very good in his minor appearance, and was slated for the WJC team until his knee infection sidelined him.
However, Zegras + Luneau is much better than Holtz + Casey, and we already have Zegras + Luneau

Zegras
Holtz is weaker than Zegras off the puck, and doesn't put up the offense to justify that.
Casey is a good prospect but we have more than enough undersized puck moving D.
Pat is looking for a top 6 RW and a top 4 RHD, neither of these players reliably project to be those at this point.
One does not acquire a Zegras with pieces one can easily afford to loose.

Zegras in Toronto
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>Really? Let’s trim the fat on this deal first to assess, because we wouldn’t have interest in Niemela. So let’s assume it’s Z for Knies + 1st.
I get that Knies is more of a Verbeek player. But he’s limited positionally to the wing (we’ve already benefitted from Z’s flexibility at C/LW), and their age 21 seasons are not comparable:
Zegras - .813pt/g on a bad ANA team
Knies - .44pt/g alongside guys like Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander
I’d rather keep Z than add someone far less productive who fits Verbeek’s mold more (even with a late 1st)</div></div>
In a wave of terrible Z offers from other fan bases, it was at least a breath of fresh air to consider.

Out of necessity perhaps, not because he played himself onto a roster spot.
Let me ask the question this way, would you knowingly give up Barron to acquire a Beck today? Because that's what Gaucher is, our Owen Beck future 3C.

If the Ducks Move On from Zegras
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habs_trade_churner_50</b></div><div>According to this year's statistics 100%. (Over the first 200 games, Imo Caufield is worth more as a goal scorer, to each their own)
We both know McTavish and 3OA is outlandish, but that is sorta how the Slavkovsky one made me feel. (I misspoke regarding Reinbacher, but still he can't be moved) I understand the one for one was before Slaf broke out. It was meant to be an extreme, albeit too extreme.
Just to understand how you value Zegras:
Is Casey Mittelstadt + Colorado 2nd 2026 enough for Zegras.
Or let me ask you this:
What is Zegras worth in this years draft OA?
And what is Caufield worth in this years draft OA?</div></div>
I'd say Zegras would return anywhere from 2-7 oa as a main piece, and Caufiels anywhere from 5-10 as a main piece. I value Zegras higher for his ability to play center, higher career points, and less likely to have his career cut short from injuries due to his size.
I also understand outside Celebrini, it's a pretty meh draft, no real consensus on 2-10, there are going to be good players, but there's not really any star power outside Macklin.
