Canucks and Flames Blockbuster trade

Créé par: DeepGill2000
Équipe: 2023-24 Canucks de Vancouver
Date de création initiale: 2 nov. 2023
Publié: 2 nov. 2023
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Calgary improves by getting rid of Huberdeau's terrible 8 year contract but this involves giving away Andersson and retaining salary. They also only have to take on Myers contract for one year and they get two picks to help with the rebuild.

Canucks improve by adding a quality 2 way defensemen in Rasmus Andersson and taking a risk by getting Huberdeau who is naturally very talented but wasn't a good fit for Calgary.

Not even when it means dumping Huberdeau's 8 YEAR contract? Flames can't rebuild with that terrible contract. This gives them a quick way out to start fresh. I think Flames agree to this. The most Canucks might add is a second round pick but that is only if they really want Andersson.

With Andersson in it favours Vancouver too much, but without Andersson included Calgary would have to add significantly

I think this is a bad idea for Vancouver. While getting Andersson would be nice, Huberdeau's contract is too much of a risk.

Andersson is Calgary’s best player. Makes no sense.

Huberdeau at 7.35 probably still has positive value

For Andersson, Rasmus
Huberdeau, Jonathan ($3,150,000 retained) Buffalo gives 2024 1st and 3rd, 2025 2nd and 4th, Krebs, Clifton or Jokiharu or Erik Johnson

Andersson is NOT Calgary's best player lol. Calgary still has quality in Weegar, Hanifin, Kylington and Tanev on their blue line.
This trade ultimately comes down to whether Calgary wants to commit to a rebuild and how badly do they want to get rid of Huberdeau's 8 year contract which might be one of the worst contracts in the league.

What is the average salary of a 30 year old 50 point winger in the league? He would have positive value if we was making around $5 million AAV but at $7.35 million with 8 YEAR TERM that is a bad contract if he remains at his current pace. At 30 years old he isn't getting any better. Vancouver is taking a huge risk with this trade.

The Flames have $30million in projected cap space next offseason. Why do they need to get rid of Huberdeau and take on Garland?? Paying 8 million to have Garland and not have Huberdeau makes zero sense really. Rebuilding teams or retooling having a whole bunch of young contracts that don’t cost much plus cap increases will dilute Huberdeau cap. All that ignores that moving Andersson is a non starter, especially just to take on other teams garbage.

You're getting a top 6 winger and a top pairing dman for 12 mill combined. That's a steal.

Huberdeau is washed up. He was carried by Barkov. Now we see the effect. 8 years left. Seriously, I'd want Andersen and Hanafin and a first to take that kind of deadweight.

As someone that watches every game. Yes, he is their best player. It sure isn’t Kadri or Huberdeau. Lindholm is disinterested.

I question your familiarity with Calgary as you listed Kylington as “quality”, he hasn’t played a game since the 2022 playoffs.

This is an awful trade. Calgary is giving up their best defenseman for what? To retain salary on Huberdeau? Just rebuild and leave him on the roster. One 10MM cap hit means nothing if your team in on ELCs
