We've got no interest in Smith. His biggest knock is his lack of effort and he'd be behind 3 other young LHD we already have. That's not something we're interested in.

To get Lyubushkin would take an overpay such that we are willing to buy another defensive RHD or are willing to give up Minyukovs development time in the NHL this year. The value that Bush has to us as a babysitter for a rookie D is far greater than his market value even retained. I'm not even sure we sell him at the TDL.

TDL for a 3rd and a different tweener than Smith might get it done. Ducks have zero need for Smith. He holds no value to them.

There’s also a chance the ducks don’t move Lyubushkin at all depending on how the season goes. He’s a defensive presence for whichever kid is playing 3LD. Right now it’s Mintyukov but if Zellweger comes up he could do the same for him.

It really depends on where both teams are at the deadline imo. If you guys are very comfortably in the playoff race then I doubt you do this

His shot is actually been dangerous this year and he can make plays. The line with Greig and Tarasenko looks very good

Ottawa has no issues with Joseph's contract. He may be about 500k/year overpaid but term isnt the reason his name is circulating through the rumour mills.

The Sens need to clear space for sign Pinto asap. 5.5m in dead cap coming off the books next offseason plus the increase in cap makes the only issue this season. So 1 year v 3 years doesnt matter because trading for Carter at the same cap hit brings them no closer to signing Pinto this year and on top of that losing Joseph for the next two years hurts them even more. Would have to be a pass.

The thing is he was just overpaid last season. CF has created this stupid narrative that he is a MAJOR cap dump but right now he actually looks UNDERPAID. And if you look at his 2021-22 season, same thing. Scoring 30 ES+PK pts in 69 games is very valuable. It's actually a better rate than several Top-6 forwards at ES.

But that's not the most important part of his game, as we can see below, way above average at ES defense and Elite on the PK. Of course, his raw production is that of a 3rd liner

I’m with you 100%, I love what he brings to the team and even last year his play was still valuable without the puck going in as much as it should’ve.

When I said he’s likely 500k overpaid I just meant if his contract was 2.5m instead of 3m per year I don’t even think there would be this big outside push to move him.

Just need Pinto to get a new agent so a verbal contract can be had. Dorion moves Kubalik for a mid round pick. Then the Joseph talk will finally end for good.
