Description

Leafs must assume they will lose third goalie Martin Jones. one way or another, so could use a waiver-exempt third goalie. Leafs acquire Kevin Mandolese, Larson and Highmore for Matt Murray. Sens sign Pinto 1 yr @ $2m (with a 2 x $3.5m extension in his pocket for signing in Jan), plus UFA Josh Bailey @ league minimum. At end of camp, Sens place Joseph on waivers and Murray on LTIR' so the opening day roster is 20 with ACSL of $84.47m. Sens then call up Smejkal and Joseph (assuming he clears waivers) using $2m in LTIR relief. I think this is kosher.

technicly with the cap space you could offer him slitghy more. dont think he will hold out if the difference is around 60k.

It eliminates the Sens retention on Murray allowing them to LTIR the entire contract.

Leafs probably have no interest because they aren't really guys being traded and its 3 contract slots. Would leave em at 49/50 after Murray is removed.

yep pretty much. sens have so many injury prone player, might not be a problem.

And why would Toronto retain $1,200,000 on Murray when he's out for the season. You put him on LTIR and his cap is buried you only pay him his real money.
