I don't trust his shoulder. It would be OK if he was either good to go or a guaranteed LTIR. But I fear he will be fragile, lack confidence and be in and out of the lineup. Too much risk at his cap hit. I would rather have the cap space.

Agreed Makes sense to keep Chabot and trade Chychrun. (Personally, I think Chabot is a much better puck mover.)
How about something like Chychrun and Forsberg to Philly for Ristolainen and Cates (or Laughton)? Roughly same cap hit. Chychrun plays with Drysdale Ristolainen plays with Chabot Philly gets a backup goalie for one year. Ottawa gets a bottom 6 winger

Mandolese doesn't cut the mustard though. It would need to be Merilainen. I would prefer to really toss Ottawa the anchor and demand Sogaard but there is no way that Ottawa would make that trade. Because there is a C to B prospect upgrade that off weights the trade. The retained salary works against the Sens so I removed that for the ugrade in prospect rating. Still really F'n hurts Ottawa for the **** GM work but gets to the true goal of getting Pinto off the bench.
I agree Merilainen is the better prospect/goalie of the future, but not sure Arizona would see him as the better third goalie this year. If Arizona wants Merilainen, I agree should remove Kubalik's retention. (Or keep it to close the deal and get on with it!!!!)

OK My bad. Kubalik to Anaheim to fill in for Killorn. Sens receive Tyson Hinds. (good young LD but buried deep on the Anaheim depth chart). Anaheim gets a proven goal scorer for this season and trades him to a contender at the TDL for a good draft pick.

Calling in Future Considerations from the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BsInOttawa</b></div><div>I don't think they can re-unify the salary that way.</div></div>
I do not know if you can or cannot re-integrate the 1/4 retained salary portion with the re-acquired 3/4 portion of the contract. I would seek a ruling. It is worth a shot - it saves 1.5 m in dead cap hit. In principle, why not? It is all part of the same contract for the player that the Sens originally negotiated, and the Sens would once again be responsible for paying 100%.
If this is not allowed, then I am afraid it is Brannstrom for Seeler or a draft pick and Pinto gets less
I think Leafs should listen to this trade proposal. They are going to lose Martin Jones via waivers so might as well trade him to TBL for something. They do not need Murray's LTIR relief and are paying him $1.2m, Better to spend the million acquiring some depth at the AHL level.
As for waiving Joseph at the end of camp and placing Murray on LTIR so you have a 21 player opening day roster with an ACSL just under $83.5m (including Joseph's 1.8m non-buried cap hit) - I think that is allowed under the last day of camp/Opening day cap rules. I think this would be a first for Ottawa - the Sens have always used LTIR to stay above the cap floor, not push the ceiling.
Of course, the simple answer once Kubalik was arriving via the De Brincat trade was to sign Pinto and Tatar instead of Tarasenko.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMDannyB</b></div><div>You do understand that basically none of what you said is allowed or possible right?</div></div>

A healthy Norris, maturing Greig, Formenton hopefully returning from exile, perhaps Jarventie in the future or even a less expensive UFA can make up for the loss of DeBrincat in the short and longer term (IMO Norris is actually a better sniper on the PP than DeBrincat). The missing piece in Ottawa's set is not a sniper but a #1 goaltender (like Saros, Gibson or Hart) pending the maturation of Sogaard or Merilainen. Better to pay the price and make the deal that completes the set (even if the price is high) than to refuse to pay the price and continue with a roster containing an obvious weak link.

I think TB has the formula to win the Cup. Acquire affordable role players like Goodrow, Coleman, Hagel, Rutta and Paul etc to create depth and complement the expensive big guns like Hedman, Stamkos, Kucherov, Point etc).
You may be right on Whitecloud. I have only seen him a few times, but he reminded me of a bigger Dylan DeMelo. I think that both he (5 more @ $2.75m) and Roy (3 more @ $3m) represent good value with upside, and I would sign Adin Hill for something like (3 @ $2.75m) to be the tandem going forward with Forsberg.

Yes I do. Ottawa cannot fit DeBrincat's long-term contract ($8,5m-9.0m) under the cap with 5 other $8M players (Stutzle, Tkachuk, Chabot, Norris and Sanderson). Batherson ($5m) is a similar player to the Cat. Ottawa would get a 26 year-old top 9 power forward, a 26 year old RD partner for Chabot and a 26 year old goalie coming into his prime for the same price as DeBrincat. With the return next year of Norris (and hopefully Formenton) this trade would make Ottawa harder to play against and a serious playoff contender for the next 5 years.

Stone injured and Quick retires
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>He means Quick. :grimace</div></div>
Quick was a very good goaltender back in the cup-winning days, but he is no longer a legitimate #1 and is not worth a $5.8M cap hit. The LAK are going nowhere in this year's playoffs with their current goaltenders. It is highly unlikely they will get a new #1 with term before the playoffs, so they need someone like Varlamov from the Islanders or Talbot from Ottawa. The third goalie down with the Ontario Reign (Petersen) has a very bad contract with term remaining (with some trade protection as well). It would take a bad contract coming back to trade him. To trade for a new #1 while keeping both Quick and Petersen would be a dereliction of duty by Blake, and Petersen is untradeable. Therefore... Either GM Blake and Quick have a heart to heart and Quick retires just before the TDL so the GM can use his cap space (with the understanding that he can come back next year as a backup on a cheap deal if he wants to) ... or Blake will trade him at the TDL (he has no trade protection) and Quick can decide whether he will report to the new club. The LAK are too close to being a legitimate contender for the GM to be sentimental.

Current Plan with Norris injury
Sens should reassess the situation after 15-20 games, In addition to testing Brassard's resilience/durability, that should buy sufficient time to learn if Alex Formenton will be available this year and/or if Ridly Greig is ready for prime time.
