My guess is that all of you guys over value Dach, who at this point isn't even close to Zegras.
You also have to factor in relationships like how Zegras and Caufield are best friends and how that could benefit MTL with contract negotiations.
You need to overpay sometimes and this could be one of those times for the Habs

The asking price for ANA is Slaf+ and MTL won’t be trading Slaf for Z. I also believe Dach will be better than Zuki anyways, so we really don’t need or want Zegras

Dude how can you call yourself Caufield and say the Habs wouldn't want or need the player in the NHL who has probably the most chemistry with your star goal scorer?
Slaf lowered his value a bit after last season still 1st round value but, not 1st overall value, Mesar looks like he'll be an NHLer but, I'd guess he's a 3rd liner at best, kind of like Calle Jarnkrok
I think Dach will be a 60 point guy but to say he'll be better than Suzuki is a massive reach IMO.

Slaf has 2022 1st OA value, so 3rd to 1st depending on the draft year, rookie value don’t change after a season, cause its normal for an 18 year old to struggle. Zegras is not a need at MTL, and thats the facts. I believe that Dach has more potential than what most people think. I agree with Mesar, and that pick will be mid 1st. But the fact stands that MTL aren’t trading Slaf in this trade, and the add on to Dach is lower than that, maybe drop Mesar for a little less good prospect. That might not fit ANA but the other way around doesn’t fit MTL. 99.999999% Zegras isn’t going to MTL.

The best trade for Z to MTL imo would be 2024 1st+ (unprotected), maybe like Beck, Roy or something

Zegras is the same as Suzuki value vise

So lets break it down like this

Would the Ducks accept

McTavish
Carlsson
Luneau
2025 1st

for

Suzuki

They wouldn't because who tf pays that much for 70 point center at best. And ive seen from other responses, that you literally know nothing. Everything shows Dach will be better than Suzuki. Look at any analytical database, it shows Suzuki being carried offensively by both Caufield and Dach and the Harvey Pinard later in the year

Thats not gonna happen. Id rather OS him for 10m+ than pay those players.

The whole point in trading for Zegras is because Anaheim cant come to terms with him and has to sell him slightly less than he's worth, not over pay. If you have to overpay, than anyone in the league is available practically.

McTavish hit it out of the park his rookie season, Dach didn't. As is evidenced by his trade, Dach is damaged goods, that's why you got him for a mid 1st.
Carlsson was taken 2OA in an incredibly strong draft, Slaf's draft class was significantly weaker, he would have only got top 10 in 23.

Suzuki and Zegras are not in the same conversation, as Zegras is the much better player in both counting stats and advanced stats.

Lastly, Anaheim wouldn't need to acquire a center in Suzuki, same can't be said for Mtl after Dubious went and F***ed right off to Los Angeles and Dach spent the entire season at RW.

Now I agree, Dach+Slaf+1st is far too much to give up, but 2/3 of those pieces would be required on Anaheims end to move Zegras.

you re right thet are not in the same leauge even , suzuki is a 2 way center who can give you 70 points and zegras is a flashy player who will never ply more than 700 games in the nhl while suzuki will play well over 1000

Ah yes, the classic "Zegras can't play defense, he is a one trick show pony" bit.

Is that why Zegras has better defensive advanced stats than Suzuki? Go home Homer, you're spewing nonsense again with nothing to back up your claims.
