Fair I know another team would do it just maybe not the Canucks I did take back myers to try to help the decision and it opens up 3.5M if they wanted to do more deadline moves

I'm sure someone else would have interest in Brodie as a deadline acquisition, Vancouver just isn't that team.

Lmao yeah he doesn't just like Marner. Having RNH a n d also one of Ekholm/Bouch just makes no sense for Edmonton and is too much. It's not even that Marner isn't worth that haul it's the fact that the trade isn't needed at all for Edmonton. Like Edmonton might be the last place Marner should go rn it just doesn't make them better

Yeah, I get that, Just leave insulting Marner not preforming in the playoffs to me...

TBH, I'm surprised the oilers haven't been in a ton of rumours for defensemen

So, according to you basically, all 4 of those teams like gift-wrapping 1st round picks and elite prospects for the Leafs.

Are you trolling ?

Or just a homer ?

Ok, let's do this 1 by 1:
Oilers: Campbell costs at least a 1st and a 2nd to dump, so would the Oilers do Hyman and a 1st for Marner? Heck yes and they gain cap space somehow
CBJ: would you do any prospect (with maybe an exception to Bedard) for a current top 2-3 player in the NHL 1 for 1? Heck yes
Canucks: Brodie half retained can fetch a 2nd+ being the best defensive defensemen analytically last year, so, would you trade a 1st AND get to dump all 6 million of Tyler Myers contract? A no brainer
Capitals: Bertuzzi half retained last year fetched a 1rst and a 4rth, so if you got offered only 1 1st, would you do it and flip him for more at TDL? 10000%
Sens: You get to shed salary for a lesser rate than what salary dumping should be. Send take this in a heartbeat and go sign Pinto

So, are you trolling? Or are you just a Leafs hater?

The Canucks do not take that in a heartbeat lol. A team that just missed the playoffs isn't giving up a first for a guy that isn't a game changer

You forgot that the Canucks are also dumping all 6 mill of Myers and only get Brodie half retained

Let's do this 1 by 1 again:

Oilers trade: Both Hyman and Marner have NMCs

CBJ trade: Matthews has a NMC and a cap hit of over 11 million which CBJ can't afford; Fantilli is on his ELC and is projected to be an elite #1 centre

Canucks trade:: Canucks are not giving up an unconditional high 1st with no lottery protection just to swap rentals

Capitals trade #1: The Caps are not trading someone they just took at #8 overall in a deep draft for a rental

Capitals trade #2: Bertuzzi just signed with the Leafs with the intention of signing long-term and has a NMC; Capitals are not giving up an unconditional first with no lottery protection for a rental

Sens trade: All the trades listed above that were declined nullifies this one because the Leafs have no cap space

Your trolling is weak sauce, homer

So again: you are ignoring the trade values but let's break this down:

Oilers: Your counter was that Hyman and Marner have NMCs, meaning you and your trolling know that you're wrong
CBJ: They will make room for Matthews, they would obviously take certainty of a top 3 player over potential 10/10, so again, keep trolling and hating
Canucks: Monahan was packaged with a 1st this past year... AND you add in the best defensive defensemen in the NHL
Capitals: How would you know that they will finished 8th last? They made a bunch of moves and Bert makes them significantly better... So keep trolling and ignoring facts
Sens trade: Again, ignored the trade itself because you know how much of a sweetheart deal it is

The Caps JUST made their first top 10 pick in forever. Why the hell would we trade him lol. Remember what happened last time we traded a top prospect before he played in Washington? We're not doing that again. And take Mantha with the first for Bertuzzi and you have a deal. Otherwise we can't afford it.

Monahan was a 6x1 and got dumped with a 1st, Mrazek was 3.8/2 and got dumped with a 1rst for a second (a second in value)... Combine big cap hit with term, leads to big cap dump

And they have to replace Campbell on the roster. They're looking at +$1.5M in cap or more, which they don't have available at this moment.

And then Marner's deal expires at the same time as Draisaitl's and Bouchard's, it's doubtful they'll have space to re-sign all three with McDavid's extension looming.

So this would be a 2-fer hole shot at the Cup, then breaking up the band. The deal is a short term win for Edmonton, but not sure it's better in the long run.

If the Oilers win the cup though in those 2 years, don't you think it would be worth it? And it's not like the Oilers won't still have 2 of Marner, McDavid and Draisaitl anyway

I won't speak on the rest of the teams but this is a very poor interpretation of Washington and what Sensonfire said about them. The comment about picking 8th was in regards to last year and referring to the Nylander trade, and that trade isn't remotely feasible for Washington not only because no team would trade a guy they just picked in the top 10 for a rental, but also because Washington doesn't have the cap space to take on Nylander.

You're comment about the Caps making a bunch of moves also isn't true, even if fans wish it was, in fact it's been one of the main gripes fans have had with management. Outside of a small trade for Edmundson and one single key signing, that being Pacioretty, the Capitals have been largely unable to make moves to the dismay of fans and management. With the team the way it currently is, and the season seemingly is a bridge year into a bigger year next year, there's little incentive for Washington to move a 1st round pick when the team is unlikely to make it past the 2nd round (putting it optimistically), and that's if they make the playoffs at all. See 2021 for what the Capitals are much more likely to do (mid round picks for depth like Larsson and Johansson). Bertuzzi also has a NMC and has no incentive to waive it, especially when he clearly wants to be in Toronto, so I see no way in which he suddenly decides to be traded away.
