Canucks might want those pieces but if there a scenario where Pettersson want out, you better lower your expectations. There not a team in the league that will pay that price. History have shown that the team giving up the best player aren’t getting equal value. You expect a scenario like Ottawa had for Karlsson. This is the kind of return that realistically will cost. Now i know that this is a inconceivable for you but it’s the reality. Like i said I would sah there a 90% chance that Pettersson stay in Vancouver.
Sorry I didn't specify but I'd have to think Suzuki or Reinbacher would be non-starters from Montreal's POV. You can compare to past deals, but in reality, a player of Pettersson's calibre hasn't been dealt in a very long time. The most recent comparable would probably be Tkachuk, who returned a 115 point star winger, a great shutdown top 4 RHD, a 1st, and a former 3rd round pick who just put up solid AHL numbers in his rookie season. Even now when you look back, Florida won that deal by a mile. Other comparable you could look to is Eichel, who returned a 1st, 2nd, middle 6 winger with potential upside (who is now a 1st line winger), and a former 1st round pick who was putting up great numbers in the AHL, and that return came with Eichel having an experimental neck surgery for a potentially career ending injury.
Canucks could do a deal like this, but if any of those assets fail to reach their potential, then they get completely screwed and loose their franchise centrepiece for pennies on the dollar. The Cauncks would want more certainty than this deal offers if they were to deal Pettersson, but it's pretty much a mute point since I can't see a scenario where they move him.
