This seems to a common theme with UFAs on CF......if doesn't want to resign the player gets traded. You have to know that is complete nonsense. Teams actually acquire upcoming UFAs at TDL to make their team stronger for a playoff run, knowing they have no chance of resigning that player. There are 100 upcoming UFAs, GMs don't trade them all. Canes are other contending teams will worry about this season, and would happens next summer, they will worry about it then.
For instance the Leafs have six upcoming UFAs.....does any logical person think Bertuzzi, Domi, Nylander, Klingberg, Brodie, Klingberg, Giordano, and Lafferty are traded JUST because they haven't been extended?

Only way to peak some ranger interest would be to eat some cap and term of some of there vets that probably aren’t waiving for Winnipeg. Only way they move on from Schneider or chytil is to move a substantial caphit or term and reshuffle the deck a little. Chytil/goodrow for scheifele type move to relocate some funds going forward. So not great trade partners at the moment. Your whole build pretty much centers around a retool and a scheifele move so possibly a different partner to start.
