There are several players that should be on here over Buchnevich. Ovechkin, Svechnikov to name a lew. Landeskog when he's healthy (if he ever plays again)

There is no way in the world you think Buchnevich is better than Huberdeau because of 1 season. No disrespect to Buch but there are a number of wingers I would take over him. Guentzel, Forsberg, Connor, Svechnikov, Landeskog, Kyrou, Kreider, DeBrincat, OVECHKIN off the top of my head

Defense could use a lot of work too. Pesce has no right being near this list over even his own teammate Burns. Let alone Seider, Ekblad, Carlson, Letang, or Jones. Morrissey, Chychrun, Weegar are also highly underappreceated here

Hughes isn't as good offensively as Dahlin at his age group he has been the best scorer out of all the young Dmen 4/5 years he has been in the NHL...AND Dahlin is a lot better defensively. That's just my argument for Dahls as #3 or better.

Hughes and Dahlin are neck and neck. But Hughes has more career points in less games, while also having better defensive metrics throughout his career

The only year Dahlin has been better defensively is this year, however Hughes knocked him out of the park offensively. Dahlin is praised more because of size and physicality

Also what do you mean by age group? They were drafted the same year… Hughes has been one of THE best offensive defensemen since being drafted. He has multiple NHL records including being the fastest d man to 200 assists in NHL history

Dahlins just a lot younger, and the numbers I was looking at where by AGE not age group my bad. Dahlin has the second most points in NHL history as a teenager, and at each age 18/19 all the way to last year when he was 22. He has had the most points out of the young D in the league other than Hughes who had more at 20.

I am also not sure if 7 goals and 76 points is BLOWING AWAY 15 goals and 73 points. Considering Dahlin played a whole month injured and did nothing offensively it's even more impressive. Either way, I'll take Dahlin all day over Hughes but I'm obviously biased.

Career Points per game Hughes is better no doubt, but Dahlin was better last year and will be the better damn when they end their careers.

Dahlin is a lot younger? My brother in christ they are a few months apart. Yeah Dahlin started a year before Hughes, but I don't see how that makes him a better player. Hughes has the NHL record for most points in the playoffs as a rookie d man. He has the NHL record for fastest d man to 200 assists. Still, using stats from when they were 20 doesn't make too much sense. Right now Hughes is the better player outside of physicality and size. Also they had similar point production this year, but their metrics show that Hughes absolutely knocked him out of the park. Hughes was driving offense like almost no other defenseman besides Karlsson. He had higher GAR and WAR as well. Overall had a bigger impact on a worse team

What offensive Metrics? Honestly curious, like Hughes is stellar on the power play. 5v5 he is meh, think 51% Fenwick and Corsi? Dahlin isn't much better though he is 53%... definitely will be interesting to see their careers play out. Rooting for Hughes as an American born person, hoping he can push the LD at the Olympics...just figure Dahlin will have a better career because I watch him more and I'm biased towards buffalo players. Although I can't wait to watch Pettersson and Hughes next year, 2 of my favorite players just don't watch much of them because their normal games start at 10pm here.

It is Dahlin in fact who benefits off the powerplay more. The whole "Hughes is only PP" narrative is just people who look at his PP points and think thats the only time he produces offense. People will never respect small offensively gifted defenseman like they will for a bigger and more physical d man
