A 1st and Broberg might be enough to get rid of Campbell, what are you giving up for Helle?

The Jets would do that in a heartbeat imo
Tough to imagine them getting a better offer for a rental goalie

They could absolutely get a better offer than a late 1st, a 22 year old bottom pairing D man and 2 cap dumps

Broberg is a good young prospect,
not a “bottom pairing defensemn”

Nice try,
but that’s a great return for u guys

Was thinking that

On top of that does WPG need Broberg they already got a struggling Heinola and Broberg has I feel the same issues with staying in the lineup over a vet

Not with Campbells anchor contract it isn’t.

You’re gonna have to take Cap back
Teams out there aren’t gonna have room for Hellebuyck otherwise

And if you’re trading Hellebuyck, i assume that means rebuild
So having Campbell on your books for a few years isn’t gonna hurt u guys at all
If anything, he probably helps u guys tank & get better draft picks out of it

True, but the better option would be to eat 50% of Hellys cap to maximize the return as a rental without taking on an anchor of a contract. It will cost Edmonton a lot for a team to eat that IMO

I agree, IF they were just trying to dump Campbell
But as part of a deal like this, I’d say the Jets do it bc they’re unlikely to have another team offer a 1st & a prospect as good as Broberg
I could be wrong, but i think they’d like those pieces quite a bit

But sure,
it would also make sense for them to just eat half of Hellebuyck’s contract
That would take teams out of the bidding for him though
Bc anyone that’s gonna pay up for him would at least want the option to be able to extend him
Which means they’d need Cap space beyond this season

For example, EDM can’t do it without getting rid of Campbell
So now u just took a good offer off the table essentially

Foegele is far from a cap dump.

And Campbell has had 1 terrible year in the past 5, he's a good bet to bounce back. It's not like he's 36 and in an obvious, multi year decline.

Foegele is close to a cap dump, Broberg holds no value to Winnipeg and you don't have anywhere near enough to dump Campbell. Winnipeg tells you to pound sand.

Campbell has only carried the starters load (more than half the seasons worth of games) in 1 season as a 31 year old goalie and is coming off a horrific season. Yes, he usually does better than last season but he also hasnt really proven to be a capable starter... just a capable backup which at 5 million is too much. Hopefully he bounces back for edmonton bc right now no other team is going to take that bet without a 1st coming with him.

The way i see this trade (in a vacuum)

Campbell + 1st = future considerations

Broberg + Foegele = Hellebucyk

Value is close if you like Borberg's potential. Value is a mile off if you think Borberg is verging on busting. Not sure what winnipeg needs either. If they dont need a lhd, value is way off as well

Edmonton is better off just rolling with a Skinner/Campbell tandem and seeing how that goes, theres way too big of an overreaction to Skinner's playoff struggles, they really should've started Campbell when Skinner was struggling.

You need to watch hockey more often. It's quite a lot of fun!

Foegele scored at a 1st line rate at 5v5 while being paid like a 3rd liner. Plus he brings size, speed, physicality and is good defensively. He's literally in the top-10 in the league for high danger chances and takeaways.

I agree with this. However, I don't think there's a single credible observer who would conclude that Broberg is "verging on busting." He's coming off his 21 year old season where he put up almost 59% xGF. He's probably the fastest skater in his draft and at 6'3 / 200 isn't undersized.

I wouldnt call Foegele a cap dump. His production rate is fine for his caphit. He may become a cap casualty since edmonton needs capspace and that will limit what value they get back.

Broberg = LHD prospect Winnipeg doesn't need.

Hellebuyck > Campbell, Why would Chevy make that trade?

Warren Foegele = 100% cap dump.

Unless Winnipeg is heading for a total rebuild, There's absolutely no reason for them to make this trade. And yes this pathetic offer would easily be beat by teams like Buffalo and New Jersey.

People get impatient with 1st round picks. Edmonton's defensive depth has been seen as weak and he has had issues getting consistent NHL time. I personally wanted him as the main piece of the ekholm trade and still wouldve happily taken him. Hes just 22 and still years away from his prime.

Fans get impatient with 1st round picks, but it's the opposite with GM's. They're always willing to give a 1st rounder extra rope.

And Edmonton's defensive depth isn't weak on the left side, and hasn't been for years. They've always had tons of LHD.

Holland wouldn't trade Broberg for Chychrun, he values him highly. I don't know if Nashville asked for him, what I heard was they insisted on Schaefer being included as they were really like him.

Warren Foegele scored 2.09 P/60 at 5v5 last year. Here's a list of regular Jets forwards (>500 minutes) who scored more:

1. Ehlers

That's it. Perfetti was close at 2.08.

To be fair Scheifele (1.19), Ehlers (0.98) and Connor (0.96) had more goals/60 than Foegele did (0.93). His expected goal rate was much higher than any of them though, and he had nearly as many hits/60 as all three of them combined!

So we'll keep our "cap dump" and you can keep your ignorant narratives.

I personally wouldnt trade for chychrun in Edmonton's position (like at all). Dude cannot stay healthy and they needed a more defensive d (imo) that could be a rock for bouchard. Ekholm is about the best fit you could have. He can really allow Bouchard to play his game.

Tons of LHD yet they traded for one in Ekholm while trading out a RHD. Seems like an odd choice personally as that puts Broberg even further back in the LHD depth chart but im not as well versed in the oilers org depth. I see Schaefer as a good Jeannot replacement with higher upside so seems like a good fit personally as well. I just see a young Ekholm when i see Broberg play so i saw it as basically a 1 for 1 replacement.
