Description

If both schiefele and hellebuyck absolutely won't resign and Winnipeg is now forced into a rebuild. These two trades can help kick start a retool. The wingers will still be strong. Swayman can become a new Hellebuyck for them. They would be needing a first line center though. Either through draft or an Ehlers plus trade may be able to bring the potential over. Either way this could be a good start. Montreal clears Dvorak salary and gets a good goalie for them with rebuild. Boston gets a replacement for schiefele with a hefty price but they could really use the first line center.

I belive Schefille ends up in Boston with their lack of centers right now, but this isn't the trade.

Also, Hellubuck has said he wants to be back in the US so he isn't going to Montreal.

Massive overpay for Schieffle, and Lindholm is preferred over him. I still think the Bruins stand pat and play out the year with their 2 star goalies so it's gonna be tough to make a deal for a real #1 center

Unfortunately for Jets fans, his age and the fact his actual cash due this year in 7.5 M and the team is letting him have choices in where he gets moved is going to lead to a lower trade return for Hellebuyck

I was going from a Sportsnet article that had both a first round pick,lysell and swayman as a starting point for a trade. Of course Winnipeg may need to add pieces as adding swayman increases the value for Winnipeg's favour but it is also part of cutting salary on Boston's end to afford schiefele and schiefele resigning. Any trade takes a starting point and Winnipeg will definitely want the moon, Boston here will probably more a good prospect added, etc ...

Normally he would be but this idea is more based on whether the new team can resign him and his salary hurting the trade value. Goalies lately have not been traded on equal value with forwards or defensemen. They have been traded for much less. Look at quick, Fleury, etc... While yes they were on a more down trend in stats versus hellebuyck it helps show where goalie value is heading making a trade that really benefits the jets harder.

But would Boston want more back, yes very well could be true and in terms of cap, 100% they may prefer Lindholm. Lindholm would cost less toom

Why would the Jets trade Hellebuyck for a cap dump and a 3rd? If his value was that bad you just keep him and play him. A year of Hellebuyck isn't a net negative value as offered here. Not anywhere close to a realistic value.
