3 Way Deal
Don't think there's a world where Boston trades their Vezina winning goalie to their conference rival mid season.
Boston also isn't giving up Lohrei, wouldn't do it last year and won't do it this year.

Swayman
This is probably a fair offer (1st and 1st rd prospects) but there isn't anything of interest to Boston. IF they move a goalie, it won't be in season, and they would need a top 6 center and/or wing.
Bruins will also be moving Ullmark before Swayman, and I have to guess EDM is on his no-trade.

playoff tweaks
I do not see Hanifin coming in a trade or FA. You would have 3 D-men fighting over PP time(possibly 4 with Lohrei), and 3 D-men over $6mil.
You also have to factor in that Lohrei is going to come in next year and most likely push for PP2, should be in the top 4 with Carlo or Mac. Just doesn't work.

does it make sense for the retool
I don't think Ullmark gets traded just because. You either need to get a 1st for him or a package/3 way trade that gets the Bruins a top 6 wing or center.

St Patrick and the hometown kid
I think the Bruins attempt to get "bigger" on D and move Grz after how they treated him in the playoffs, but I don't think it involves a 1st or Lysell.
They're going to add more grit in the bottom 6 and a 2nd/3rd pairing D, but I don't know if they're going to swing as hard as they did last year.
Also Kane is a big no.

Not sure that Nelson fits into the "younger" core that Boston is building but I don't hate it.

what appears to me to be a series of victimless crimes here
I mean you've pretty nicely exampled the issue with acquiring/paying a player like McDavid. No secondary scoring or defense.
You have ~$10mil to get 2 second line wings, 2nd pair RD, 3rd pair RD and LD and goalie.
I think you have to be a team like Arizona, Anaheim, CBJ, etc in order to build a contender around McDavid. Even then, you're working in a 2-3 year window before ELCs/bridge deals expire and you're in a cap crunch again.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>How is Beecher playing?</div></div>
Solid defensively, learning the offensive game. After his first goal the other night, you could definitely tell he got more comfortable, the 4th line was pretty dominant.
With his skating at his size and physicality he's going to be a very effective NHLer

It'll be closer to practice lines today.
Marchand - Zacha - Pasta
JVR - Coyle - Freddie (2A)
Heinen - Poitras - Debrusk (2B)
Beecher - Brown - Steen
D pairings should look that way.

When Healthy
I think Heinen, Lauko, Lucic alternate depending on match ups. Next time the B's play Detroit or Florida, Lucic and Lauko are in. If they're playing someone like Seattle or Arizona (faster, less gritty team) they probably through Heinen in.
I think that Poitras line could be good. Not sure what is going on with JDB, not very good in front of the net lately but not really a "sniper" like Monty has been using him. Gotta figure out something to get him going.

With everyone healthy
Lohrei goes back down. He's had flashes but has been absolutely caved in his own zone the last 2 games.
I think Heinen deserves to play over Lauko right now, or maybe they alternate.
Something needs to be done about the Coyle line, right now it's where offense goes to die. They've had a few good shifts but the production is not there at all. Either plug Poitras between Marchand and JDB or Donny needs to start making calls.

It's a similar package that Horvat got. Lohrei and Poitras were non-starters last year, it's going to be the same this year.

I think Boston might do that. I think they'd rather trade Ullmark but they could have two top 6 centers that are under 25. That could really set them up for the future.

Last practice it looked like they were keeping lines from the end of last game.
Zacha - Poitras - Pasta
Marchand - Coyle - JDB
JvR - Geekie - Frederic
Heinen - Beecher - Steen
But yeah, that third D pair makes me wanna throw up.

Yes true, but that was before any call ups. No real reason to replace Brown on that line unless he was playing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>When did Heinen sign?</div></div>
He hasn't officially signed but lead the practice stretch, got stick taps, got the post practice media scrum and was a regular with Beecher and Steen at practice with Brown being the extra and playing defense.
All signs point to him being signed today, before the game.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>It would be Steen that gets sent down unless he suddenly starts playing like a 3rd liner
Why should it be Brown?</div></div>
I think it's a little telling that Brown is the odd man out today. Brown has been the "veteran presence" on that line since Lucic is out, but with Heinen now available (who is a MUCH better player than Brown), Steen stays until Lucic is back and then you're looking at a rotation of Lauko, Heinen and Lucic with Beecher centering.

Boqvist skated before Bruins practice today along with Mitchel but Heinen took line rushes with Beecher and Brown. Also Lohrei reported to Providence practice today.
Not sure if B's have a trade going down or if they are waiting for Mitchel to be claimed or move through waivers to make any other moves.

Seems like a relatively lateral move, similar players, same age, almost same AAV. Not sure what the incentive for Boston would be.

Line Changes Based on Game 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Nah, they likely won’t change anything.
They are not taking their best defensive center and moving him to wing where he has historically not been as strong.
Forbort is not getting top 4 minutes, especially with another stay at home D man that does not have a transition game either.
But if they did. First line works.
2nd Marchy-Potsy-Freddy
3rd JVR-Coyle-Geekie
I like Geekie better at center than wing. He will move there if Potsy sent to jrs. If not he will just be injury fill in, night off replacement.
If they tinker with anything it would be the PP. The first unit looked lost without Bergy in the bumper.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>It's fine the way they are. Keep them together for a bit so they can build chemistry. After 4-5 games, it if works, keep them. If not, make a change. Lindholm and McAvoy separated is more valuable as they can have two solid pairs. Forbort-Carlo will struggle to move the puck. Ideally, they're never together except on the PK.</div></div>
I did not mean to change the defensemen, just most not have changed them from where CapFriendly has them.
I could see a March - Poitras - Fred line.
Very small sample size but at the end of the game the JDB - Zacha - Pasta line was buzzing and I was trying to see how best to put that together while still having a usable 2nd line.
