real contenders want to build around guys like brady, not nylander, and im a leafs fan.

William Nylander doesn't come close to getting Brady Tkachuk out of Ottawa.

And Jeff Petry isn't waiving for Toronto, And i doubt Kent Hughes is retaining 50% on him either.

Not to be mean about it, but I don't think Toronto has one prospect that could fill this gap. They would need an A prospect they don't have.
And yes, Brady is the last player this team would trade.

With the situation Brady is in he just isnt going to be traded. Counting out some situation where there is a breakdown between him and the organization he is the heart and soul of the team. He's their captain. He's their leader. He's their power forward.

There isn't even a question of value. It's just a non starter to movie Brady.

Hence title crazy trade , but it could happen and that trade would be reasonable. Did anyone expect his brother to be traded? Your opinion is fine but the trade is the discussion not whether it would happen. Is it a reasonable trade if all parties wanted it is what this site is for. No trades are ever perfect, there is always a winner and a loser and there are always players wanting a change. To flat out say Nylander and a 1st is garbage value is just dumb.

It's really not. Nylander is 4 years older, not as impactful a player, and on an expiring deal. Ottawa would have to pay a worse player MORE money to get him for the worse years of his career (23/30>>>>>>>>28/36). Not to mention the fact that trading the Tkaptain would cripple this team for so many reasons.

There's no trade that could be made with Toronto

Sens don't need any of Marner, Nylander or Matthews (well if they weren't as expensive maybe) and certainly don't want Tavares.

I'd trade Joseph, Thomson and Sokolov for Jarnkrok though (which doesn't work since the Leafs can't add cap, like the Sens)

As pointed out by a couple other people, trading 5 years of Brady at his cap hit vs Nylander on an expiring deal is the issue. It would take a considerable amount more than "a prospect" to make up that gap, especially considering he could just walk in free agency one year from now. Even if Nylander was extended as part of the deal he is 4 years older than Brady and the cap hit would be significantly more than Brady's deal at just over 8m.



Realistically it is terrible value. If this is supposed to be a legitimate starting point then remove the 4th you have in there from Ottawa for starters, add another decent valued nhl player and one of your best prospects. That's a legitimate starting point, I promise all the sens fans commenting will play ball then.



Also keep in mind Matthew wanted out and subsequently forced his way out. Brady on the other hand has from day one said that he wanted to stay and signed a max term extension straight out of his elc. Apples to Oranges.
