I said in top that obviously for this to work Nylander agrees to re-sign in CAL , I am not crazy.

Nylanders value is far greater than Weegar and Zadorov. Toronto is losing this trade big time.

I disagree , in the past you may be right but there is a premium now on gritty two way defense especially right handed , plus the trade helps TO a lot where they need it. It would be very hard to convince CAL to go for this.

You can disagree all you want, Weegar is barely a 0.50 PPG in this league and Nylander is pretty much a 80-90 point winger with much more value. Zadorov is basically a throw in.

You can disagree all you want Weegar is an elite two way defender who plays a physical game and had 31 points , Zadorov is coming off his best year is very physical and plays a two way style and had over 20 points they replace to guys who had 34 points combined in Holl and Brodie. We have to think what will win a cup not what you believe he is worth. A cup is worth way more then having Nylander isn't it?

Yeah well Conroy isn't dealing Weegar so it's pretty moot, Nylander is asking for $10,000,000+ and i doubt Calgary gives it to him. Huberdeau signing isn't going to age well.

Ok but just because Nylander is asking for 10 mil plus AAV doesn't mean he'll get it.

With the salary cap expecting to be close to $100,000,000 by the end of this decade, He'll get it.

That's 6 1/2 years from now. Nylander might get 10 mil AAV in UFA. But it's not guaranteed.

My point is players ask for numbers all the time. They don't always get it. Look at Bertuzzi. He was looking for 7 mil AAV on a long term contract.

Yzerman never gave it to him and neither did any other GM. He had to settle on a 1 year deal for 5.5 mil with Toronto.

That guy and his Detroit buddies claimed that Bertuzzi was no way in hell signing with a Canadian team, nevermind the Leafs. And then hell froze over.

Yes I agree , I heard at first Bertuzzi was actually wanting 8 M , so the player will ask higher then he actually gets almost every time.

For me I feel I overpaid on Toronto side because I really feel if they win the cup next year it will cause a huge culture change on the team. Players will be able to relax , the fans will stop complaining . Then players will want to stay here and new players will be interested in signing in TO . This adds a very strong defense with options if Klingberg needs to be moved to 3rd pair to get back on his feet Liljegren would match fine with either Zadorov or McCabe on 2nd pair. I understand we lose Nylander in this but remember what we have added since last year , Bertuzzi , Domi , and Knies. Plus added Tatar 48 points last year and plays a two way game. Then the 2 defense I added also had 52 points combined , way more then all the defense we lost combined and both had over 150 hits each.

We are not trade Brodie for a 5th and not trading nylander for two defenders we need to replace him with the trade

That is completely irrelevant. He's still traded as a rental thus his trade value is of a 1 year deal
