I still have hope for Laffy. But he's not worth Raymond right now.

6 point difference says otherwise!

I’m kidding, Raymond exploded in his first season which we haven’t seen from lafreniere yet. Lopsided as of now for sure.

Raymond struggled a bit last season. Classic sophomore slump.

Maybe.... but flip opportunities Laff in Detroit, top line #1 PP, Raymond buried on NYs 3rd line with no PP.
Seems likely scenario would be completely flipped.
Add in Laff's size and physical play advantages , have a hard time agreeing with your opinion.

He improved his two-way game this season so that' s a plus.

Raymond is going to be a very good player for a long time. I'd like to see him put on 20 pounds of muscle. But he's what, 21 years old? He didn't even play in Grand Rapids IIRC. He'll be fine.

The real prize of that draft was Timmy Stutzle.

Yeah, I agree. I read an article awhile back stating that Yzerman had Stutzle first overall. We got a bit effed in that draft going from best odds to drafting 4th. Happy with Raymond but would have been happier with Stutzle.

Raymond over Laf. Raymond isn't even an option for the red wings to trade and NYR would have to add significantly if getting Raymond via trade was an option

Detroit doesn’t consider. Stutzle should’ve been the 1st pick with hindsight. It is what it is and the Rangers are gonna be negatively impacted by their awful player development and hope Laf continues to improve just to become a top 6 forward.

He's a power forward and it takes time to build strength. With his style of play he has to be able to out muscle the other teams players to be effective. Strength and speed are the 2 things that makes the NHL better than any other league in the world.

They had a difference of two minutes TOI. And it's not like Raymond is surrounded by elite talent, he's on Detroit lol.
Raymond exploded in his first year then had a bit of a sophomore slump (again, not blaming him for the team he's on). Laf has yet to show anything noteworthy at the NHL level for where he was drafted. I'll take a career high of 57 points over 39

First off it's an 11 point difference, Lafreniere has 91 points in 3 seasons and Raymond has 102 points in 2 seasons.

Plus he missed 8 games when he collided with Ben Chiarot during practice. Or he'd probably would've had at least another 50 point season instead of 45.

Detroit passes, Lucas Raymond 102 points in 156 games > Alexis Lafreniere 91 points in 216 games. Not even close.

The 5v5 ppg are similar, Raymond's PP time accounts for the disparity and then there is the career +/- Laf +5 and Raymond -49.

Using +/- in an argument.
Opinion disregarded.

By the way, players tend to play better on better teams.

Did he collide with Ben Chiarot, or is Chiarot a double agent?

Players also tend to score more playing 1L and PP1 minutes. Are you claiming that Raymond is a good 200-foot player? Sure, not an advanced stat but with such a difference then ..., better than your personal attack arguments calling insanity or opinion disregarded. smirk.

Of course! So ignoring all benefits Lafrienere has over Raymond, and ignoring the fact that Raymond still has more points with almost a whole season less;
They're basically produce at the same rate, only because Raymond is in a better situation.

Your comment was about how could someone think of value differently. Raymond's development was to get premium playing time while his d-side poor play was allowed, while Laffy's development was to be a 200-foot player.
