As good as Draisaitl is, this is not a move the Sens need to do. It goes again against the whole rebuild that started in January 2018
Plus this is very risky and expensive for a player that might just leave in 2 years.
Trading 2 more firsts, Ottawa just traded 2 in a row and completely flopped their 2021 selection... That would basically mean
FIVE YEARS WITHOUT A FIRST
Formenton doesn't even "exist" right now. He shouldn't be in any proposal. He would need to get his name cleared and then offered a NHL contract first, which might never happen.
Pinto is also very hard to give up, he will be cost controlled for several years and will be a key 2-way center for a decade. Having Stutzle, Norris and Pinto down the middle is perfect, why change it?
Ottawa just can't afford to do that. And this is not even what they need. Their PP is totally fine. The problem is preventing goals against at Even Strength, which is far from Draisaitl forte.
Only way I'd make the trade is IF I know I could sell him for more to another team but that doesn't work like that in the reality. Edmonton would just trade him directly

Stutzle for Drai would be my ask from Edmonton, they are definitely worried about his next contract.
Why would Ottawa do this? They would have the same worry as Edmonton... no?
And no, call me as crazy as you want but I wouldn't trade Stutzle for Draisaitl
- 21 y/o at 8.35 AAV x 8 years vs 28 y/o at 8.5 AAV x 2 years
- Even if Stutzle doesn't match LD numbers, he will be much better defensively
- How much more pts would Stutzle put in his prime playing with McDavid?

You've gotta put Stutzle in there most likely, which is an easy trade for Ottawa if that's accepted.
No way I am doing this for the reasons above. Why do people absolutely want to FORCE sitautions like this when the Duchene and DeBrincat situations already blew up in Dorion's face?
