Habs decline

As a guy who lives in Montreal, I highly doubt the Habs would decline that offer.
Habs need to round out the top 6
Suzuki - Caufield
Dach - Newhook so far
Considering how many promising prospects they have at forward but, not NHL ready (Slaf, Roy, Kidney, Beck and Mesar) it's definitely worth considering

I'm a big Ehlers fan, the Canucks shouldn't make that trade, they aren't in a position to be trading 1sts.

I know it's probably not a ton of actual spots different, but MTL's 3rd for Beauv is probably more realistic. Might get a 2nd from someone if we retained, but that's not happening.

Its not.

Lazy oh hes french so they should want him bigotry aside hes a undersized winger who despite regular pp time and plenty of icetime is a sub .5 ppg player who doesnt kill penalties or drive possession.

He is not a top 6 forward not remotely close and he isnt a material improvement to any of our top 9 wingers

I'd tend to agree i just thought if you could turn someone we probably dont really want in Garland into a really good winger and a top 4 dman it might just be worth it. Plus it frees money up in the long run. That's why I considered it.

Perhaps. The trade is mostly to get the best possible return for the Jets trade. If the 3rd made that trade still work or was close then Im fine with the Montreal 3rd.

Not enough there to dump Garland and return the 2 best players in the deal.

Theyve always loved their french players I don't think bigotry need to come into this. He's a middle 6 fwd, young. Certainly a good player and useful.

You might be right. I wouldn't say Garland is a dump but he doesn't hold much value. I thought he might hold a bit more to the Jets because he's signed and lets face it most guys aren't itching to go to Winnipeg.

Habs dont need to do anything. Slaf, Anderson or RHP can play in the top 6 since they arent trying to compete. Any beauvilier trade involves a Hoffman, Dvorak or Armia going back or Canucks pay a pick to dump the contract

It is bigotry because its a misheld belief.

The Montreal Canadiens do NOT have a single francophone on the roster that they have traded for and literally 1 in the entire 69 player reserve list.

Beauvillier isnt young he is a ufa next year. He is 1997 born and 1996 is born is the 230 of the 460 forwards that played 20 games last year.

He provides absolutely nothing to the habs they would have to be paid to take him at this point

Yeah, but apparently the insiders are saying Garland is a free asset, so there's no reason for Winnipeg to pay that much for him.

Don't get me wrong, the first is nice and all, but it's not worth that much to the Jets. There would need to be a young, top six or potential to six roster player with lots of team control added on to get Winnipeg thinking.

Montreal isn't going to trade for Beauvillier unless Vancouver pays them to take him.

What on earth are you on about? Montreal has zero problems with players to fill spots on an NHL roster. They're trying to dump veterans right now. Newhook probably doesn't even start the season in the top-6.

Ya I did want to give a bit more but I didn't really know how to do it. The Canucks have Podkolzin, Hoglander I'd consider doing one of them as well maybe take out the 2nd?

He just turned 26 last month! It's not about how many they have it's that they always seem to have an interest in available francophone players. Obv it has to make sense from a hockey perspective too but clearly it would be a big hit to have a local player. Somehow you brought bigotry into that. He had 20 points in 33 for the Canucks that is good secondary scoring.

"he is 230 of 460" what does this mean?

I think you'd be getting a discussion going at least. Although in all honesty I think those would be two of the last players the Jets move. More change would probably do the Jets good, but I just can't see it.

He's definitely not a cap dump. Now if you wanted to send money back that is another idea. Certainly he is not in the category of the players you've suggested though.
