Give up MIN 2nd instead of VGK
But thats just nitpicking overall i say MTL takes it
Foligno is overpaid but i like what he brings and if we want we can flip im to a contender later at the TDL

Gustavson Solidifies our Goaltending with Montembault
Addison gives us a stop gap or replacement for Mailloux longterm while replacing Savard short term
Foligno is the only man with multiple wins over Tom Wilson and he's a productive player regardless of salary

Fixing our Goaltending situation doesnt makes sense ?
This is the cheapest i've seen a goalie in his position go
Its not like they're asking for 5th OA just 31st
I know 37th to 64th is a rough swap out id prefer 53rd instead given were given up Savard and taken on Foligno
But we can always flip Foligno at the TDL as he's built for the playoffs someone will pay for him

I don't think there's anyone that can coherently argue that goalie of Gustavsson's caliber "fixes" anyone's goaltending. We're not talking about Hellebuyck/Shesterkin/etc. here. And we have a lot of examples of paying for a goalie who benefits from playing behind Minny's D-core not working out.

Montreal is also rebuilding, they don't need to be fixing the goalie situation right now anyways.

This is really bad for Minnesota, like bad. Giving up our starting G, 2nd round pick , Foligno & calen Addison for late 1, expensive 5th or 6th d, and Montreal 2nd?

We werent looking for a starter though . . .
I just assumed talking for MTL you understood our Goaltending needs, thats my bad i shouldnt have assumed.

MTL has Montembault who we're very comfortable investing still but he needs Proper support in a Tandem who can play 30-40 games atleast
While we have a back up good for 25 max.
Could we call up Primeau? it wouldnt help Monty nor would it help Primeau
Could we call up Dobes? He needs time to adjust remember he followed Primeau's path coming up just behind him in every ranking and didnt win the Mike Richter award. He needs time is my point.

We're looking at a 2-3 year gap before Dobes is remotely ready, i dont think Primeau makes it out of the AHL TBH
Monty may become a bonafide starter by then but only with the Transitional Support he needs .
Im shooting for the NSH Dynamic of Saros and Lanakinen while Dobes our closest equivelant to Askarov develops in the AHL like they're doing.
Gustavson absolutely solves the very specific hole we need plugged with great numbers in net

Yeah, if only Montreal had another goaltender under contract for 2 more years who reliably plays a 1B/2 role and doesn't complain.

He's not though
he's injured more regularly each year as we push him to play more then he can.
Dude's uncle even thinks re-signing was a check his body couldnt cash.
Look at his numbers and game played
Thriving as a back up under 30 games with no injury issues.
Price goes down , games go up and injuries to as he never had one put him on IR or LTIR until joining MTL
Since he stopped being Prices back up and started being the Full time Tandem guy he's had 5 injuries sideline him for much of the past 2 years(all different issues it seems)

You say Reliable , i say we broke him trying to make a back up a starter forcing him to push himself past his limits.
0 injuries before MTL and 5 since. . . Food for Though regarding your views on "Who Reliably Plays" as on his current pace he wont be able to walk up stairs comfortably by 38 either like Price

To watch MTL fans fight over whether or not they want him it seems lol
I was surprised you guys were putting him up to bring in Lyon/MAF
If anything i figured you'd be moving MAF going after another Gustavson like Gamble that paid off big time

It’s a gamble, I admit…but he’s also a goalie coming off a great year and I want to parlay the fleecing of Ottawa into more future assets. In summary…strike while the iron is hot!

If there was ever a draft to “gamble” like this…this is the year. In addition, how many teams have goalies on bad contracts because they rewarded them too much for one good year???

Foligno is worthless. Savard gives the Wild some much needed beef on the blueline. There are several centers and RHDs available at the end of the 1st/early second that will help fill future needs. I don’t trust Gus to continue his play…goalies are weird!

I mean come on dude. An expensive old d for 5 or 6th d isn't something we need for a year . When Minnesota has a bunch of top d prospects. You don't trust him but have to because fleury isn't it, and he Will play goid behind our D. Foligno can regain value and if we are out, trade him at deadline. But in a conference like we are, protecting Kaprizov is a must for us.

MN does NOT have a bunch of RHD prospects. They have a couple with some promise… There should be 2-3 RHDs available with these picks, plus a couple intriguing centers still available. The RHDs who should be available are also exactly the types of d-men the Wild have embarrassingly few of…d-men with brains and size! I am all about the future and don’t care in the slightest about the next 2 seasons. I’m more than sick and tired of this insanely myopic franchise always putting the cart before the horse! I want everyone to be patient enough to build a team that is a legitimate Cup contender for a decade or more…not these regular season darlings and playoff embarrassments we’ve watched for 20+ years! Unless someone has one foot in the grave, why wouldn’t every Wild fan not be willing to endure a couple more so-so seasons to finally fix this franchise once and for all???
Narrow-minded, short-sighted fans drive me nuts!!

Everyone wants to wild to win a championship but with the player's they have its not possible. There's other means and way wild have to get a late 1st without needing to give up a #1 G. Your really overvaluing a late 1st. Calen Addison and 2nd , Calen addison and a 3rd should easily get Minnesota a late 1st. Not needing Minnesota to add a starting G and additional 2nd. Let foligno rehabilate his image so we can get a 2nd or 1st @ deadline

Savard has his weak spots mostly Offense but overall he's solid and worth every penny.
If he was make Chiarot money i might not be so thrilled but perfect play vs pay ratio in my books.
His nickname in MTL is Big Game Dave cause when the games on the line and your Goalie needs support its him you want.
Excellent shot blocker with good stick work who doesnt shy away from Pain in order to make a play.

I've known Dave since he was one of the core leaders here in Junior with Mark Barberio after Crawford left for CHI they were the ones who filled his massive leadership void (like massive off ice commitment )

Im not saying he's going to get anyone a boatload in return but those who acquire him never complain

I think you are completely overvaluing Addison’s market value and investing way too much hope in Foligno’s immense decline reversing itself.

Addison's in a position where he's good but not quite outshining what most teams have internally already.
If he broke out a little more , its different
But such is not the case here.

I mean i like him and i'd invest in him in this deal
But i wouldnt pay a ransom for him as Defensively he's still finding his game
I mean if we were talking 3rd line Winger a this cap with his production i think most teams would pay MIN what they invest in him a 2nd round pick and a prospect maybe(like a Simmoneau or Fairbrother)

But we're talking a RD who only average's 14-16 minutes
2/3rds of his Production on PP is impressive
But Hoffman scored 49.5% of all his points before MTL on PP
Players defined by special teams are subject to a ton of variables from Coaches to Player combinations.
A bad year can turn into a spiraling career fast.

If he had 40 points and 20+ minutes i'd pony up for sure
But 29 points with 18 on PP and only 16 minutes is a rough sell.
If he hit or blocked shots regularly then thats maybe something we'd still gamble on
But there's too much work to be done similar to Petry before MTL
